Even without a military industrial complex, the media and Hollywood always play up nuclear war and dystopian movies more when a Republican is in the WH to lean the public into thinking all is not well (so they won't be happy with the Republican). They want us to think about how close it is to being Armageddon because of that cowboy in the WH (as they referred to Reagan while they actively cheered for Gorby and had what Rush called gorbasms).

And don’t forget, the military industrial complex truly seeks an actual nuclear war. Their plan has been to hide in very deep “bunkers,” although at this point let’s just say their options have become a lot more limited. But some of them are hell bent on literally nuking a few places.
