(The Daily Signal)—President Donald Trump named two members of his Cabinet as an unbeatable duo in the 2028 presidential election.
When asked by a reporter on Air Force One Monday morning if he would run in 2028, Trump said, “We have great people.”
“One of them is standing right here,” he said, referring to Secretary of State Marco Rubio. “We have JD [Vance], obviously. The Vice President is great. Marco is great, I think. I’m not sure if anybody would run against those. I think if they ever formed a group, it would be unstoppable.”
Trump said he “hasn’t really thought about” running again.
“We have some really good people,” he said.
The remarks came amid claims from MAGA podcaster and former Trump strategist Steve Bannon that “there is a plan” for Trump to run for a third term. (Even though the 22nd Amendment blocks a president from running for a third term.)
“I would love to do it—I have the best numbers ever,” Trump said in response to Bannon.
But the president ruled out the idea of running as Vance’s vice president.
“You’d be allowed to do that, but I wouldn’t do that,” he said. “I think it’s too cute.”

Come on. Little Marco’s not gonna sit in that job for 8 years. DeSantis has the executive chops. Marco could get his executive experience when Cuba kicks out the communists-put them on the fast track that the Norks missed out on. Vance? The ideal SCOTUS nominee, perhaps even next year. He’s been vetted by the people and the grandstanders in the senate won’t have a leg to stand on. He’ll be there for 30 years. Let John Kennedy finish out his VP term for some comic relief.
I’ve said it here before. We have an embarrassment of riches. Let’s spread it out. All it takes is fewer egos like Linda.

Trump will always be the King running things as long as the GOP is in power. His being in the WH is less important than being in good physical and mental health.

I really wish people would stop all this talk of using some sort of chicanery to get Trump a third term. Not only is it not constitutional, but Trump is 79 years old. He needs at this point to be working on grooming a successor. If MAGA is entirely dependent solely on one man, Donald Trump, to lead it, it has no future as a political movement.
We got the second term that was denied Trump in 2020 and he seems to be making far better use of it today than I think he would have four years ago. Time to find some new blood to take the baton forward.
I'd be perfectly happy with Vance and/or Rubio but we should also have a competitive primary.
The president keeps talking about running again. And he had “Trump 2028” hats made to give out. I don’t think there’s any way, constitutionally and I doubt he really wants to hold office into his mid-80’s.
But ... I have no doubt he loves trolling the ignorant democrats, keeping them off balance and worried about something that’s not happening. Since they are the party that got a non-native-born foreigner (Obama) elected, they know that it’s possible to defy the constitution and run an unqualified candidate.
I look at Trump running a third term as Bannon and other MAGA trolling those who are extremely unhinged....the reason to do this is to get them chasing shadows on the wall rather then putting fourth any real cohesive policies that might get in the way of a Trump presidency or to get those who would be destroying future presidential candidates by smears busy chasing a fake trump third term.

Well, it’s illegal.
To run for president of the United States you must be over 35 years of age, a native born citizen (except for Obama, apparently), a resident of the state your running from for at least 14 years, AND be eligible to hold the office.
Exceptions
There are a few exceptions built into the Constitutional requirements for those wishing to run for president. For instance, nobody who has already been president for two terms can run again. Additionally, no one who has served more than two years in a presidential capacity even though he or she wasn’t elected — for example, if the vice president becomes the president after an assassination — he or she can only be re-elected once. The Senate can also ban people who have been impeached from the presidency from running again.
Can Rubio run for president?
I think Rubio is an anchor baby. The dems will raise that as an issue in ‘28.
