Something important that’s being missed with the Jimmy Kimmel saga…

Something important that’s being missed with the Jimmy Kimmel saga…

By spreading the vile lie that Charlie was assassinated by MAGA, the implicit message from Kimmel was clear: If you kill a conservative, we will cover for you. We will whitewash the murder because we don’t think conservatives deserve to live. Kill more. Assassinate more. We have your back.

This is evil.

Executives at ABC rightly received a deluge of complaints from affiliates. They asked Kimmel to apologize for lying and he refused, instead vowing to double down. Only then did he get canned.

Networks like ABC, NBC, and CBS enjoy massive taxpayer supported privileges and advantages because they are supposed to contribute to the “public good.” Those privileges come with a responsibility to not knowingly spread harmful lies like the one Kimmel was spreading.

Jimmy Kimmel is not a victim. He’s a liar.

Jimmy Kimmel is not a martyr. Charlie is.

Let’s keep that straight

I know what he said. Kimmel also criticized president Trump’s statement about grieving.
Said it was the way a 5 year old mourns the death of a goldfish.

Yes. Insulting president trump is allowed. The bigger problem is accusing MAGA member of assassinating and/or conspiring to assassinate Charlie Kirk

He’s allowed to only Trump. Trump doesn’t care nor do his supporters.

Jimmy Kimmel’s First Amendment rights are not in the least impaired, he is just as free as ever to make any kind of assertion he wants. But he, like just about every other “private” citizen, has no right to be taken seriously, or avoid the consequences of that assertion or point of view.

If what he says is taken by another to be slander or libel, consequences can be serious, and sometimes pretty swift.

I did.

This is not entirely true: “Those privileges come with a responsibility to not knowingly spread harmful lies like the one Kimmel was spreading.”

Wrong. At least outside of the news.

If Kimmel was the ABC News anchor and talked about MAGA killing Kirk, then there’d be something.

But Kimmel was a mouthpiece on a drippy little show. In that context, his utterances, as pathetic as they were to gin up controversy and make leftist friends, don’t violate some “truth” clause.

Wow some people will argue over anything.

No it’s not ok for a late night supposed “comedian” to make fun of the mourning for a just assassinated political leader.

Not even close, and more than worthy of firing him for it.

You can think what you want but the FCC and Charlie Kirk’s producer know differently

The local stations owned by Nextstar and Sinclair rely upon local businesses to advertise on their stations.

When Kimmel says something stupid, these local stations do not want their local businesses to stop advertising.

Hence, Kimmel’s firing was a ‘bottom up’ affair and not an ABC ‘top down’ affair.

The only thing left for them to throw up is age discrimination. Replace Kimmel with a 31 year old. He was 58...He is done. They will pay out his contract.

That’s what all the principals are saying and it makes good capitalistic sense. No reason at all not to believe it

I know why leftists and media (same) are hypocritically yammering about it, forgetting past positions etc

Why are people like Tucker and Ted Cruz moving in and interfering. Even bondi

It sounds to me like somebody found a foolproof legal loophole, if you will, to take action on their own.

JMO, YMMV

Sinclair’s press release was pretty clear as to why they were telling ABC that Kimmel would be persona non gratis on the stations they owned.

Yes. Sure is. :)

A lot of them were disappointed last year when Trump survived the assassination attempt in Butler, PA, and are probably hoping he won’t survive to the end of his term. They are evil.
