China is not planning to launch one or two missiles at an aircraft carrier; it is planning to launch dozens, if not hundreds. The PLARF possesses the largest and most diverse missile arsenal in the world, with thousands of launchers. In a conflict, they would unleash a massive, coordinated salvo attack designed to overwhelm any defense.

Carriers, the backbone of our Navy and the symbol of force projection are rapidly becoming obsolete.

It takes $10 billion and a decade to build one and because of this, they're just too expensive to risk losing one.

And when you can't risk losing an asset, this governs how you deploy these assets.

This being said, they're not going away anytime soon. We have too much invested in them.

This article and others like it about obsolete aircraft carriers tells me "somebody" is actually afraid of our carriers and their abilities and they want their capabilities muted.
What better way to win a war than by convincing your opponent to cast down his sword and spear before the war even starts!
Claiming their use is antiquated and that they are due for decommissioning helps our opponents...both foreign and, sadly, domestic.

The subject is tariffs. So you’re saying that tariffs aren’t affecting you directly and it appears you don’t know how they are affecting your relatives or family. Yet you claim they are helping American workers.

None at all. This is a move that only works once.

But it only needs to work once. We no longer seem to be a country that will tolerate losing an aircraft carrier and 5,000 sailors in a single failed strike. The Chinese could bet on a political reaction from American citizens who would demand a ceasefire and withdrawal of forces.

The Chinese might lose that bet. They also might fail at destroying a carrier task group. It would be expensive to find out either way it turned out.

These are a few examples of tariffs imposed on imports from other countries. As far as 1st world countries go, S. Korea has the highest.

If what you claimed about tariffs was true, Iran should have a booming economy with high wages. The only thing going boom in Iran is their nuclear weapons program.
