After three years of war, with the commentariat on both sides eagerly predicting the looming collapse of the enemy, it behooves one to develop a prudent aversion to histrionic predictions. However, it seems fairly obvious that the war in Ukraine is at a critical juncture, and August 2025 will receive considerable play in retrospective accounts of the conflict, as perhaps the last opportunity for Ukraine to cut a deal and slither out of its strategic grave.
On Friday, August 15, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are slated to meet in Alaska to discuss steps to end the war. Whether those talks will be productive remains to be seen, although Trump’s acknowledgement that Ukraine will have to cede territory to Russia signals that the White House is at least drifting towards a realism. Predictably, the Alaska meetings are being decried by the Europeans and the Professional Fascism Noticers as a redux of Chamberlain’s Munich Agreement with Hitler, but this does not really matter. In the same sense that, for the alcoholic it is always five o’clock somewhere, for a certain type of person it is always 1938. For these people, World War Two is the only thing that ever happened, it is always happening, and it is always just about to happen.
Just as a brief aside, this is one reason why Alaska is actually a meaningful and pointed place to hold the meetings. The more paranoid sorts believe that there’s some sinister meaning owing to Alaska’s origins as a Russian colony, but the actual symbolism of the site lies in the fact that America does not need to interact with Russia through Europe, and indeed never has. America and Russia can relate to each other bilaterally, without Brussels or London or Kiev as an intermediary.

And that was the exact point Putin drove home in his opening remarks. I transcribed his opening remarks: "“Our countries, even though separated by the ocean, are close neighbors. So, when we met, when I came out of the plane, I said [in Russian, no translator on tarmac] “Good afternoon. We are neighbors. It’s very good to see you in good health. I think that is very neighborly. I think that’s some kind words we can say to each other.”
"We are neighbors" stressed we don't need Europe between us.
AFU = Armed Forces Ukraine
Should have been the article but doesn’t seem to be.
Good to see some ( you) reading from well sourced authors about the reality, and rejecting the western tripe MSM spouts….many here still think St Z is winning, the Russians are running out of missiles, ammo, men, and using washing machine chips….fools.
They have been had, again, and again….post war analysis will reveal all….then their silence.
“ it is easier to fool people than for them to admit they were fooled”, as this Ukie war will illustrate.
* the very first hint was all the Democrats waving their little Ukie flags on the floor of Congress….fools…
It will be interesting to see the post-war “analysis” by leftist commentators. “What, do you mean there was no actual evidence of Russian “human wave” assaults with massive casualties? But I must have read that dozens of times.”
The Ukie body count ( KIA, WIA) will stun all. Colonel MacGregor, Dima, and other well connected sources report at least 1.5 million…St Z and his supporters state 40,000…..just one look at the Ukie Social posts paint a bleak picture.
It also provided the safest air travel corridors for both men.
While Russia has 50,000 men a month volunteering, of which the best 35,000 are taken, Ukraine is pulling old men off the streets while their wives fight to hold on to them.
While fighting-age Ukrainian men are rioting at Warsaw rap concerts.

My guestimate is ~200,000 killed, ~400,000 severely wounded, ~100,000 permanently crippled on each side.
TG will tell us to “shut up” about his Ukraine trolling, just like he told people to “shut up” about the failure of his Waco trolling.
The article at one says Ukraine has only lost 400,000 KIA and WIA. Ukraine is down to 300,000 men, and if they never had a replacement from 2022 that would give you 900,000 gone. The KIA for Ukraine has reached 2m soldiers. NATO provided about one vehicle for every 10 KIA. Now the west is conventionally depleted and financially near bankrupted.
Western and Ukraine leaders do not realize that Ukraine will suffer over 45,000 KIA and 3800 desertions a month going forward.
Trump got a briefing on the Russian military assessment and a briefing from Russian econ.
Hence, this war is lost.
Trump’s best option is let Russia and Ukraine alone work it out, and if not walk away in September.
The rump state Ukraine becomes will not be economically viable to support itself, let alone field a military challenge in the future.
Stick a fork in the EU, and Zenlinski too.
My guestimate is

Post war analysis will give you a headache….get some Valium, your going to need it.
“While fighting-age Ukrainian men are rioting at Warsaw rap concerts.”
As of 10 months ago 100,000 had been reported as charged with desertion, estimates are around 400,000 total desertions, the only numbers from the govt are the ones who have been charged.
The last number I saw for new Ukrainian troops added in a month was 1,700. Yikes.
Stick a fork in the EU, and Zenlinski too.

Amen brother. Few take the time to dig deep, they prefer to be spoon fed by western MSM.

Realpolitik.
