The National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) numbers are in for July 2025. This is the first month in almost six years that the adjusted NICS numbers estimate less than one million firearm sales.
The NSSF chart comparing firearm sales over the last twelve months shows a pattern that is very similar. How is it that the numbers from a presidential election year and an off-year without midterm elections are so similar? One possibility is that President Trump dominated the news cycle during both years, both before and six months after his election as president of the United States.
It may be because the old news media have been attempting to drag down President Trump for all of the twenty-four months.
President Trump is winning his legislative and court battles. This, combined with a population that contains a majority of Trump supporters, means there is less concern the country will devolve into a nationwide kleptocracy or Anarcho-Tyranny as conceptualized by Samuel Francis in 2022. Victor Davis Hanson sees the Trump administration as a historical counter-revolution. Most of the people in the United States see

For gun makers, it’s the Trump Slump.
Maybe the market is somewhat saturated for the time being.
I can recall a big rush to acquire guns starting when Obama was first elected. Many people expected him to try watering down the 2nd Amendment.
Time to buy guns!
You can get good deals now.
Every time there is talk about gun control, gun sales skyrocket. Every time, the 2nd amendment seems to be safe, gun sales drop.
So do not wait until there is another gun control alarm!
Buy guns now!

After the Barak Boom comes the Trump Slump.
The Day After was crazy at a LGS.
Americans are not (currently) afraid of losing their gun rights
3D printers sales up ?.
Heads would explode if Trump said “Under my leadership, gun sales are down.”
Not only does storage space become a premium, people run out of family to bequeath them to. Then there is the expense involved in upgrading optics, gear, precision and other considerations.
Seles of arms, ammo and gear exploded during the year of the summer of love. I know plenty of people who stocked up. Images of the McKluskys defending their home put the fear of the mob into a lot of people.
It would be interesting to see if Colorado, which recently passed stricter gun control laws, has seen a spike in sales. Unfortunately, a Coloradan cannot go to a more gun friendly state like Wyoming or Kansas and buy a firearm if it violates Colorado law.
Saving my $ to get a suppressor next year...
Not really a Trump slump. Gun sales have been through the roof through Obama/Biden years. Every patriot has one now.
That's it, Mark.
This also explains a parallel trend:
I think that’s true. But I also think it might be market saturation. Plus there’s the fact that I’m running out of room in my gunsafe.😁

There’s that.
That’s right.
