While the U.S. F-35 and F-22 may be qualitatively superior, China’s ability to mass-produce its J-20 stealth fighter presents a grave quantitative threat. China’s “offset strategy with Chinese characteristics” focuses on overwhelming the limited number of American fifth-generation jets with a massive fleet of J-20s.

“~1200 F-35’s of the different flavors in service.”
The F-35s would not operate alone. They share communications with F-22s to provide complementary advantages.
you mean when the clintons pushed our manufacturing base to china it had major national security implications?
gee... who could’ve guessed
and that’s just one of the TWO weapons of mass destruction the clinton’s gave to the chinese. the other being nuclear technology and other military platforms and tech via chinagate
American air power has no chance against mass-produced J-20s and other advanced Chinese combat aircraft. When they have planes that are 90% as capable as the F-22 and F-35 - and believe it, the J-20 is an amazing plane - hundreds of Chinese planes can obliterate American air power over the Indo-Pacific region.
On top of that the Chinks will be operating from home vs Americans far from home. Game over. The American era is history.
“American air power has no chance against mass-produced J-20s and other advanced Chinese combat aircraft. “
ROTFLMAO!
They have 200, producing 100 a year!
By the time they reach our numbers, the J-20 will be pbsolete!
We have over 2,400 F-35s with more than 2,400 on the way.
The M2 "Ma Deuce" machine gun, M1 Garand, M1911, Thompson M1928 submachine gun, M1 carbine, and Mk2 grenades were better quality than enemy weapons.
The later P-47 and P-51 aircraft were also better quality than their counterparts.
Oh, you bought that story? I take it you haven't been in military electronics manufacturing. Those companies are in the paperwork business, not manufacturing hardware. That's why we keep coming up with glorious designs of which we can only afford a few. That keeps the designers busy with stories like the one you offered.
Never mind that we couldn't do ANY manufacturing that way in a real shooting war with attacks on the homeland, never mind if terrorists were really cut loose.
Your source is at best a well intentioned person; at worst, they are Chinese propaganda.
You keep posting from there. It’s interesting that just about everything I’ve read from that source is shitting on US weapons systems. I guess when your navy is running over your Coast Guard on the high seas, you have to try to tear down your opponent.
ROTFLMAO!

And with air-to-air missiles having a range of 100+ miles, tactical fighters would just be shot down.
Not when it came to the Me-262. In that case, their technology lost out to our quantity.
Quantity wins since not every missile shot results in a shootdown. Having participated with military wargaming I have seen worries by military strategists that we send up a handful of airplanes, very capable and professional airplanes and pilots, miss many of our missile shots, then have to return to refuel and rearm. All the while, China sends of 4 times as many airplanes carrying even more missiles than we can. We need missile trucks, not spending most of our dough on high-tech that doesn’t have a final last-mile advantage.
We have about 635 F-35 in service. Now, define ‘service’.
The F-35 is still plagued by problems and severe limitations.
It's in-service record puts in the category just above a prototype.
“In that case, their technology lost out to our quantity.”
When obseved, instead of engaging, the English would vector to the airfield knowing that the ME had a very short time aloft.
Then catch them at slow speed while landing.

China has 200 J-20s and producing 100 a year. By the time they get enough to swarm, they will be obsolete.

What do the pilots think about it, do they prefer fighting from cheap and plentiful mediocre and expendable planes and a nice war of attrition?
“What do the pilots think about it, do they prefer fighting from cheap and plentiful mediocre and expendable planes and a nice war of attrition?”
The J-20 is more expensive than the F-35.
I thought the basic argument was quantity over quality.
