The upcoming one-on-one summit between Presidents Trump and Putin is unlikely to produce a lasting peace because Ukraine, the primary combatant, is not at the table. The bilateral format plays into Vladimir Putin’s imperial mindset, creating visuals of great-power parity and evoking historical comparisons to the disastrous Yalta and Munich conferences where smaller nations’ fates were decided for them.

“...alas, alack, and Alaska...”
Yalta worked out well for Stalin.
Didn’t you post the same nonsense with a different author yesterday? LOL.
Why does it even need to be about Ukraine? The Rump-British empire and EU have already shown they wanted this war from the start, and they want to keep it going, so they can have it. Certainly JD Vance has said as much
Maybe Trump wants to discuss things more relevant to the USA, like nuclear power, arms control, the arctic, Iran, Israel, sanctions, etc...
The fact Donald and Vlad are meeting is a start. But Recall the Reagan/Gorbachev Iceland summit. A simple “Nyet” from Ronaldus Magnus ended it. Things happen.
Ukraine is not at the table because it’s not a “primary combatant.” It’s a vassal state of the U.S., doing the bidding of Beltway warmongering globalists.
Deep state not happy.
Blog pimps don’t last long around here.

There are no guarantees.
We know you Zeepers are very angry at Trump for meeting with Evil Putin.
But you will get over it.
This is likely Putin’s last chance at a graceful exit from this war. If things don’t go well expect a lot of bad things to start happening to Russia.
“Yalta worked out well for Stalin”
Your daily countdown to massive Sanctions On Ruzzia did not age well either.
I am not angry at all.
I pray some good news comes of it.
There’s a 50/50 chance he’s correct.
If “failure” is defined as similarity to Yalta and Munich, then what is really meant is Ukraine doesn’t get the result it wants, but a result imposed on it by larger powers.
This may be a failure of something but not of the conference and its stated intention to bring an end to the war. It’s a failure to give the Euro-NATO-Ukraine people everything they want, which Putin has already said is not on the table for him. If you agree with Euro-NATO-Ukraine then there’s no point in the meeting, the war will continue. If you disagree then you mark a new line in the sand — this is as far as the U.S.A. is prepared to go in the future to assist Ukraine.
There is no absolutely right or wrong outcome in this situation, it depends on how much more death and destruction both sides are willing to absorb. We don’t really have a dog in this hunt, nobody in America, Europe or NATO wanted this war except a few people looking to make a buck or a Euro.
But we may as well hear what Putin has to say and see if there’s any overlap with what Ukraine is willing to accept. If not, then cut them loose, any reasonable person can see that Ukraine cannot win this war, the only question that remains is how badly they will lose. I take no pleasure from it, just the unvarnished facts of the matter. It’s similar to the withdrawal from Vietnam, it was hard to accept but the alternative was to keep fighting at an enormous cost and without any guarantee of a different result.
I’m not a keeper and I’m glad they are meeting. As with all things Trump let’s wait and see.
When you say Yalta “didn’t work out so well”, what, exactly, do you mean?
On February 11, 1945 the Russians were on the Oder. East Prussia was occupied. Budapest was occupied. Slovakia was occupied. Romania was occupied. Bulgaria was occupied.
The Americans were on the Rhine but not across, that would not happen until March 7. The US-UK forces had been thrown back by the Germans the previous year at Arnhem and had made no progress in the North.
What should the US have done other than what we did?
