I have been meaning to write about the Jeffrey Epstein situation, which I think has become an unfortunate distraction. Thus, the New York Times headlines, “Trump’s base is in open revolt over the Epstein case.” This delights them.
In my opinion, while Epstein was obviously a horrific person and was at one time well-connected, the political dimensions of the scandal have been absurdly overblown. Current demands for a release of the “Epstein files,” which can only mean the investigative files prepared by law enforcement, are misguided. Raw criminal investigation files are never released publicly, for excellent reasons.
Any release of materials at this point could only be highly selective and would be improper even on that basis. And selective releases could never satisfy the conspiracy theorists, and would only fuel demands for more. So President Trump is right. It is time to move on.

The Epstein files should be treated the same as all other criminal investigation files.
If they are normally released then Epstein’s should be released, if they are normally not released then Epstein’s should be treated the same way.

Honestly, I’m sick of hearing about it as well.
And criticism of certain members of the Trump administration as well.
Pretty clear that the Biden DoJ created some fake Epstein records implicating Trump and other GOP officials and the fakes can’t be distinguished from the real ones. No choice now but to try to make the whole thing go away, no matter how suspicious it looks.

His real supporters are not trying to derail his MAGA agenda.
Trump needs to come out and say that, then. And bring to justice those who doctored the files.
Yup. They basically have said for months:
“We will release everything.”
“We found more files. We’re looking at them. But we will release everything.”
“We need to redact the names of innocent victims, but we will release everything.”
And now:

Information and the control of the same, is the only thing that matters around the Beltway bureaucracy and the press-media. What do you know, and how can it be used?

I think that the SDNY destroyed any original evidence and fabricated files that implicate Republicans. The reluctance to release the files to Bondi was likely baiting Republicans to make noise for exactly what is happening.

After President Trump had a conversation with Charlie Kirk he said he was through talking about Epstein.
wiki has a lengthy Epstein entry, including this:
Alleged connections to intelligence agencies-——Epstein was rumored to be associated with Intelligence agencies. The U.S. journalists Dylan Howard, Melissa Cronin and James Robertson linked Epstein to the Israeli Mossad in their book Epstein: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
They relied for the most part on the former Israeli intelligence officer Ari Ben-Menashe. According to him, Epstein’s activities as a spy served to gather compromising material on powerful people in order to blackmail them. There is also a possible connection to the Mossad via Ghislaine Maxwell, whose father Robert Maxwell is said to have had contacts with the Mossad.
Epstein’s victim Virginia Giuffre also alleged Epstein to be an intelligence asset, linking on Twitter to a Reddit page, that alleged Epstein was a spy, running a blackmail operation.[296]
As U.S. Attorney in Florida, the later U.S. Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta reached a settlement with Epstein’s lawyers (including Alan M. Dershowitz) in 2008, which allowed him to receive a very light prison sentence. Acosta later reportedly stated that he was told that Epstein “belonged to intelligence” and that the issue was above his “pay grade.”
According to Acosta, he was pushed to give him a good deal.[297] Former CIA Director and diplomat William J. Burns met with Epstein three times. According to a CIA spokesperson, Burns hoped that Epstein would help him “transition to the private sector.”
I hope the President doesn’t allow this un-important case ruin the marvelous record he has in MAGA.
The AG must reveal all she has about Epstein and let the chips fall where they may. But she should definitely give her opinion as to the reliability of the sources.
