America Is Slowly Giving Up on the Ukraine War
National Security Journal ^ | 6/5/2025 | Andrew Latham

Posted on 06/05/2025 5:33:55 AM PDT by whyilovetexas111

The United States, under President Donald Trump, is perceptibly stepping back from its previous level of unconditional support for Ukraine, driven by a realist assessment that Kyiv’s maximalist war aims (like restoring 1991 borders) are unachievable against Russia’s grinding war of attrition.

Trump needs to do the right thing and let Europe fund and fight in Ukraine. My big fear is that the war ends and we end up giving Kyiv so much aid its like they are in NATO as they need so much help.

“...let Europe fund and fight in Ukraine.”

Do you mean, and not judging here, ...withdraw the U.S. from whatever it is that’s happening or is going to happen in Ukraine?

The Deep State is trying right now to get this nation emersed up to its neck in this conflict, with no real objective in mind, for their goal is to keep the Military-industrial complex gravy train humming along to enrich themselves, while thwarting Trump & MAGA in the process.

They are the ones behind the attack within Russia, not Ukraine. The will even resort to assassination, if all else fails.

Europe, minus Hungary & Poland perhaps, are very far down the road to self-destruction. So what happens in Ukraine is really insignificant, because the fate of Ukraine was never really a national security threat to begin with.

So, I assume you are providing a tongue-in-cheek response with your statement.

We never should have been “in it” to start. No more proxy wars and lining the pockets of the swindlers.

The Ukrainian government now presides over the graveyards filled with ~1.5 million Ukrainian dead thus far. No elections. Zelenski retains power, they poked the bear, the military industrial complex is thriving and congressional kickbacks continue.

The deep state has been identified as the National Security State...

What has been totally glossed over by Washington and the media is the only reason anybody had any concern about Ukraine is because that country was a cash cow for corrupt politicos.

“Oh, but what about the CIVILIANS???”

Washington Politicians are doing exactly what dastardly regimes do. They are using the innocent as a shield to deflect from their corruption.

The American people have never supported our involvement in this war. The neocons in congress are not the American people.

Four reasons why this is good:
1. Ukraine is in Russia and Europe’s backyard, not ours. Our NGO-funded coups brought in the Russian troops.
2. Zelensky and his supporters in the EU and the Democratic party are far more harmul to the America of our founding fathers than the Russians.
3. We can help average-Joe Ukrainians more with humanitarian aid than military aid.
4. If we leave this mess and de-sanction Russia, that nation will gradually disengage with the scoundrel nations to which we have driven them by our sanctions.

"the fate of Ukraine was never really a national security threat to begin with."

That depends on one's point of view. If you look at it from the perspective of the well being of the United States, that is true.
If you look at from the perspective of the MIC, portions of the IC, the grifters of such, the compromised, and affiliated sorts,it is the primary national security interest, i.e., DCs interests are often not the nation it claims to represent.

I mean let the Ukes know we are getting out and wouldn't they prefer to be reasonable in negotiations with Russia now. The alternative is we walk away and let the Yurps provide and pay for all the support for Ukraine....which we all know means Ukraine collapses quickly and then gets offered terms that are much much worse from Russia.

They not only want to keep the MIC gravy train rolling, they also are hoping to get the Trump administration hopelessly entangled in Ukraine so as to destroy the MAGA movement. The Establishment (both R and D) has been losing the power struggle with MAGA and they know it. They have no means of turning it around because the Establishment offers nothing to the middle class or the working class. So they’re hoping Ukraine is their Hail Mary to derail the ongoing political realignment in America.

Ukraine has no strategic importance for us at all.
Everyone is saying that we should do this, or do that. What about after?
Whats the plan for what will happen after?

They can beat their chests all they want, but there are NO long term plans.

So, lets nuke this country or attack that country. OK, what about after?

Get out. Out of NATO, out of Europe and out of Ukraine.
We are a financially sick country. And in able to help others, we need to be healthy.
Since 1900, how much has the USA spent on endless wars in todays currency. I bet we wouldnt be talking about a future 40 trillion debt.

Yes, but doesn’t our minerals deal with Ukraine bind us further to them? We have more of an incentive to support and aid Ukraine to keep the mineral flow viable into the future.

“America Is Slowly Giving Up on the Ukraine War”

Does that mean defending Ukraine will be up to the EU since it is happening in their back yard and if Ukraine falls will Putin then continue on into the EU?

Meanwhile, not a single Wesyern European nation has instituted a draft.

And many, if not all, are continuing to evade those joke sanctions and are STILL buying Russian energy.

Western Europe can’t be too worried about the Rooskies, can it...

The scuttlebutt is that Tulsi, Hegseth, Trump were all deliberately kept out of the loop on the Ukrainian operation to attack Putin’s long-range bomber and cruise missile-delivery aircraft.

Can you imagine the conversations that are taking place between and among those three?
