What you mean by peaceful is not what most people mean by peaceful.

You did not shoot down my points. I did not consider myself arguing. I was mentioning factoids that militate against your claim that Ukraine was peaceful therefore worth dying for. Corrupt governments are not peaceful.

Agree, but many times the other choice is much worse. So instead of helping the very bad candidate by abstaining, I hold my nose and vote for the less bad candidate.

It’s all about the Constitution:

If you love America, you support the Constitution.

If you’re a true Conservative, you support the Constitution.

If you like your freedom and rights, you support that Constitution.

The US Constitution is unique. It is an anti-government document. Yes, it is all about what the government may NOT do regards peoples rights, what powers they do not have regards the states. It is essentially a cage for government, which has been working copiously on trying to free itself from those shackles.

Even though every federal employee is sworn in under the US Constitution, it to some degree is the enemy in that it defines the limits of government which of course wants to grow in scope, manpower and budget.

It’s the US Constitution which really made the US different and exceptional.

The ideas expressed in that document (the philosophy and moral ideas it’s based on), and how they were spelled out (simple language and direct), made the US into what it was, at least originally. It’s actually very hard to argue away what the first ten Amendments try to convey.

Today we are becoming a social democracy with an all powerful federal government which gives itself the power to side step the US Constitution at will (Euro style social democracy with a bureaucracy operating outside and far beyond its own basic/foundational law). That only works because the people allow it, but eventually the people won’t even have the ability to reign government back in.

This genie doesn’t want to get stuffed back into its bottle.

Millions of Russians agree with you.

What you mean by peaceful is not what most people mean by peaceful.

Ukraine was not a threat to any outside polity. Ukraine lived in peace with all its neighbors. Yes, Russia had stirred up trouble in one Ukrainian region, fomented an armed insurrection, attempted to wrest control of that region from Ukraine with a view towards later annexing said region - but Ukraine had absolutely no designs on its neighbors. Hence: Peaceful!

[...] your claim that Ukraine was peaceful therefore worth dying for.

There! You snuck that in, attempting to insert a "hidden premise" and "strawman" my argument.

I was implying only that Ukraine was peaceful, and therefore did not deserve to be attacked and invaded by Russia; that Russia was morally in the wrong for attacking and invading it. That simple!

Corrupt governments are not peaceful.

And that suddenly gives neighboring countries the right to launch a full-scale war against such governments? To fire-bomb civilian centers? To send tank columns against their capitals?

Your points (but you insist you aren't "arguing!") are swaying in the wind...

5 virtually useless and outmoded bombers is not “substantial” which is why you didn’t mention the actual number: 5 destroyed is all that has been verified. The story of 40 was bogus.

An estimated 40 aircraft were destroyed or damaged (probably beyond repair):

They had a combined value of approx. US$7 billion.

That represents roughly one-third of Russia's strategic bomber fleet.

That is substantial in anyone's book.
