Ukraine’s Missile Defenses Against Russia Have Reached ‘Breaking Point’
National Security Journal ^ | 6/4/2025 | Jack Buckby

Despite successes like “Operation Spiderweb,” Ukraine’s missile defense capabilities are described as being at a “breaking point.”

With only a handful of Patriot batteries operational (estimated 4-6 out of 8 total) due to repair needs and limited spare parts, and each interceptor missile costing around $4 million (often requiring two per incoming Russian missile), Ukraine faces an unsustainable defense posture.

The war is over. Can we move on now? America is spending 1.2 trillion a year just on servicing interest payments. Europe can fight if they want.

When they say “Spare Parts” they mean extra $3 million dollar missiles. Ukraine has shot all they have and we aren’t sending them fast enough.

You sure got that right!

Maybe Mr. Trump can listen to Mr. Musk about this debt thing.

I pray the Russian response removes several members of the decision making party, wherever they may be, from the world.

The war is over.

Putin's war of aggression against peaceful, non-nuclear Ukraine is most decidedly not over yet - but he could end it anytime he wanted to, just by withdrawing all his forces back across the Ukrainian border and into Mother Russia.

Just last weekend, Ukraine succeeded in destroying a substantial percentage of Putin's fleet of hypersonic-missile-carrying, nuclear-capable aircraft, deep in Russian territory.

The war is most assuredly not over. Two - count 'em: two! - nuclear-armed aggressors are waging a war of conquest in Europe, against a non-nuclear country that never so much as laid claim to a single square inch of their territories.

Your sense of proportion is totally out of whack, and your moral fiber is lacking.

America always supports an underdog against a tyrannical foe.

Spoken like a true friend of Putin, the war criminal, who launched the bloodiest war in Europe since the end of WWII.

I pray that a brain aneurysm takes Putin - quickly.

The two sides are like two tired boxers in the ring, throwing kidney and rabbit punches at each other, then slumping together in a clinch to keep from falling down, individually or both together.

I missed the part about how this is our problem. But seriously, if they can inflict such damage with cheap quadcopter drones then they should to continue to do so. If they’re sick of war then it’s time to come to the table with Trump.

I own a little tool and die business, I build molds for a customer who supplies parts to Raytheon and their Patriot missile system.

I built the molds that forms the seal and caps the end of the missile tube, it gets blown off when they fire them.

I’ve been asked to quote building 2 more sets of tooling for my customer to keep up production, there are parts to the seal and cap that are quite sensitive and not easy to make.

Raytheon has increased their needed volume by almost 10x since 2 years ago.

We have to borrow to pay that $1.2 Trillion every year. There is no money in our Treasury.

Not a good time to be running out of Patriots since Russia hasn’t paid you back yet for that drone attack on their nuclear bombers.

Trump is experienced in filing bankruptcies. United States bankruptcy is just one more on his resume. No big deal.

Obviously enough to make it worth his time. Ukraine is likely not writing those checks however. Probably a NGO s t up with the help of the US war mongers. Graham,McCain....

Stop it, the stock holders of Raytheon want those $4 million dollar missles to keep flying. How else do you expect the Raytheon Salesman to make their quota this quarter?
