DOJ Drops Major Bombshell Report Exposing FBI Involvement in J6
American Tribune ^ | May 22, 2025 | Staff

A bombshell report from the office of U.S. Inspector General Michael Horowitz confirmed that the FBI was present and involved in the events of January 6, 2021, with IG Horowitz saying that the initial reports from the FBI related to January 6 were “inaccurate” and not reflective of what actually transpired at the U.S. Capitol.

For context, in a press release from December 12, 2024, the U.S. Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General, Michael E. Horowitz, confirmed that after a thorough review, it was clear that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was involved in responding to the events at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. In addition, the press release clarified that 26 FBI agents were in Washington, D.C. on January 6 for reasons related to the incident at the Capitol.

In the report, Inspector General Horowitz explained that the FBI “took significant and appropriate steps in advance of January 6 to prepare for its supporting role,” explaining that the agency was prepared to respond to “the potential for violence,” but did not “canvass its field offices in advance of January 6 to identify any intelligence including [confidential human sources] reporting, that might have assisted with the FBI and law enforcement partners’ preparations for January 6.

Continuing, Inspector General Horowitz said that the FBI had made an “inaccurate report to Congress” in which the agency falsely said that its agents had canvassed field offices in search of intelligence related to January 6, explaining that the inaccuracy was due to “confusion and lack of coordination.” Furthermore, IG Horowitz clarified that the reports from the FBI were not “intentionally inaccurate.”

Moreover, IG Horowitz confirmed that there were no undercover FBI employees at protests or in the Capitol building on January 6, saying, “We found no evidence in the materials we reviewed or the testimony we received showing or suggesting that the FBI had undercover employees in the various protest crowds, or at the Capitol, on January 6. However, he explained that “Twenty-six FBI CHSs were in Washington, D.C. on January 6 in connection with the events of January 6.”

In addition, the inspector general explained that three of the aforementioned FBI agents were “tasked by FBI field offices to report on specific domestic terrorism case subjects who were possibly attending the events of January 6.” He then added, “One of these three CHSs entered the Capitol during the riot. The other two entered the restricted area around the Capitol.”

Next, IG Horowitz clarified that the remaining 23 FBI agents who were present at the Capitol Building on January 6 were acting “on their own initiative and were not tasked by FBI field offices to attend the events.” Horowitz explained, “Of these 23 CHSs, three CHSs entered the Capitol during the riot and an additional 11 entered the restricted area around the Capitol.” Later, the inspector general confirmed that by entering restricted areas within the Capitol building, several FBI agents engaged in “illegal activity.”

In response to the revelatory press release, Rep Thomas Massie (R-KY) weighed in on X on December 12, 2024, saying, “It’s no coincidence that FBI Director Wray announced his resignation just prior to the release of the IG report exposing activities of FBI confidential human sources at the Capitol on Jan 6.” He added, “For four years, I pressed for answers on this. Now the malfeasance is finally exposed.”

23 FBI agents or 23 confidential human sources?
I’m confused.

23 instigators with plausible deniability.

"Name and Shame" does nothing unless it is followed by firings or "voluntary" retirements. It may be too much to expect prosecutions, but that would be a nice touch.

We are very late on seeing dismissals of several thousand FBI agents. Perhaps this story is a preparation. I can only hope.

Most of the agents involved the J6 persecutions should be dismissed. All of the agents involved in the Mar-a-Largo raids should be dismissed.

Security must be - secure.

Time to work on the corrupt blackrobes who did the bidding of the corrupt DO(un)J. These dirtbags should experience a year or two of solitary while we look into their backgrounds and actions.

CHS = Confidential Human Sources. The article refers to them as field agents, which directly contradicts the actual report.

Exactly. Clear as mud. I think the IG’s we have right now are a sick joke.

I’m not the only one who predicted that the government would send agent-provocateurs to turn a mostly peaceful rally into a revolution on live TV.

Twenty three FBI agents were kinda bored that day and had nothing else to do so they just decided to show up at the Capitol and wander into the crowd?

Lol.

Horowitz answered a question that was not asked. The question is: Were there any FBI ASSETS present in the crowd, not FBI employees.

As a former IG who was choosen to restore integrity to the office, I was literally forced and let sitting in limbo at the the Division HQ when I first refused for seven weeks. I terminated my Jump status but it went unprocessed. I was totally screwed over by the IG 9 years before, and the man who ran the office would have no other in that position.

His wife came to me and told me their story and only then did I “volunteer” to serve as an IG. The Division Commander supported my “innocence about right and wrong and doing what was in the interests of the Army”. I spent three years and had helped to turn around a unjust system where management did not have the best interests of the soldiers in their care were not properly treated.

I forced that Division Commander to remove a captain who was the Deptury Commander at Fort Bragg’s own son from the Army; now that was a shit-show. The Assistant Corps Commander came down and asked me what his son had done, and he too could not condone his son’s continued service in the Army.

There are no more innocent values or men in power in today’s Army are not beholden to a corrupt political idealogy form the left... well not openly anyway. The colleges were the platform from which woke emerged.

Even a fried of mine who had been in my second MOS training for 5 months become a part of the IG, not as an IG but their admin, and he was a corrupt SOB too. People end up working for the commander at every level IN A BAD WAY.

The IG at every organizational level works for THAT commander. If THE INSPECTOR GENERAL in DC is not clean the organization can rot from the head like a fish.

Somewhere along the lines of being raised in the presence of God, you can find those who can server as IGs and also the commander/or agency head. Without HIM the IG is a pawn of the wicked.

But there are 17 intelligence agencies. We keep hearing that. So how many CIA agents were there for instance?
