NASA scientists have calculated the date a lunar eclipse occurred in A.D. 33 that may pinpoint the day of Jesus’ crucifixion.
In Genesis 1, we read that God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years.”
So it’s not surprising there would be a least one sign in the heavens to mark the death of Jesus as a sacrifice for the sins of the world.
The New York Post reported that NASA’s “astronomical models suggest that a lunar eclipse turned the moon red over Jerusalem on Friday, April 3, 33 AD — a date many scholars tie to Jesus’ death.”

There are other things besides an eclipse that can make the moon turn red. Smoke high in the atmosphere, for example.
Passover was April 3 in 33 AD. So there ya go.
Was that date the Friday before Passover?
Yes, I saw that once — lots of mortar fire in the area at the time. I later looked up whether it was an eclipse, but no. It was eerie.
Yes, see my #4. Passover begins at sundown on Friday.
Ah, here’s the NYP article Hoft ripped off. It explains it all:
And I’ve seen a blood red moon that lasted all night after smoke from a forest fire 100 miles or so to the east drifted overhead. It also looked eerie.

Does not matter when he died all that matters is that he rose from the grave to save a lost and hopeless world.
April is the cruelest month.
That explains why an ex-military colleague of mine who was about 100 clicks away at the time later told me he “saw the the blood red moon” that night and knew we “were in for it”. Sure enough, the invasion had begun at 5am.
I still thought it must have been a weird eclipse (it had a weird vermilion tinge to it) when he said that, and knowing he wasn’t a superstitious sort, wondered why he thought that. His area had suffered a similar military invasion a few months before my area did.
Now it all makes sense. Thanks!
NASA, stick to space.
“April is the cruelest month.”
Can’t argue with that...my father and wife passed away in April (years apart).
Lunar eclipses occur only at night and solar eclipses only in the daytime and last only a few minutes.
Interesting that they can find evidence the points to a particular day.

There was an early Roman attempt to explain the Darkness as Noon as an Eclipse.

In "Jesus and Christian Sources outside the New Testament" by FF Bruce cites a letter by a Greek who offers the same suggestion of an eclipse. (IIRC...I no longer have the book, gave it to a grand nephew taking up...possibly...the ministry. It is still available as an Ebook)

FF Bruce has a second book "The New Testament Documents, are they Reliable?" They are and he discusses why. Available at the same source as above.
And it was NOT on a Friday! That would have made Jesus/Yeshua a LIAR.....which he never was.
At 3:33 P.M.?
