California drivers could soon face gas prices soaring to $8.43 per gallon, a staggering 75% increase from current levels. The looming crisis stems from the shutdown of two major in-state refineries, which together account for 20% of California’s gasoline production.
The Phillips 66 refinery in Los Angeles is set to close by the end of 2025, followed by the Valero refinery in Benicia, which will halt operations in April 2026. These closures will create a gasoline deficit ranging from 6.6 million to 13.1 million gallons per day, according to an analysis by USC Professor Michael Mische. The impact will extend beyond fuel prices, affecting supply chains, air travel, food delivery, agriculture, manufacturing, and healthcare.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Whoohooo more winning!!
But the media WILL be comparing gas prices under Biden vs gas prices under Trump and the CA residents will curse Trump for making the price rise so much.
Is it possible for someone to make his own gasoline so his transportation can be self-reliant?
In a Democracy the voters get the policies they want. Good and hard.
ARE YOU A BOT? YOU NEVER REPLY
Ping.
This affects Az, Nv, and New Mexico. This is a National, Federal, and Interstate Commerce issue. Trump has every legal right to step in right now and fix this. Why is he not? Bad advisors? This needs to be addressed RIGHT NOW not after they are forced to shut down.
I can’t wait. That will wreck the state’s economy, which is reliant on long-distance commuting. It will even get Silicon Valley upset at the Democrats.
What a screwed up state. They want electric cars but don’t have the charging capacity for them and now they are losing 6.6 million to 13.1 million gallons per day of production capacity.
Lunatics in a state where oil literally bubbles up from the ground (so I’ve heard).
Whoohooo more winning!!

Not really. The loss of 2 refineries ( when we have too few already
) will affect gas prices nationwide. Less of something, the more the remainder costs.
You can make bio diesel from used cooking oil.
And lucky for us in northern NevaDUH, we get our supplies from.....caulifourkneeuh. Our prices are still in the $4/gal range in Reno. Lower in most of the rest of the state but still over $3.

A district judge will say no in 3..2..1.

No, but you could get a bicycle and peddle your ass around town.
The NevaDUH legislature is nearing the end of the session and I don’t recall this being on the agenda anywhere. I may have missed it but I sure don’t think so. Gender affirming for 12yr olds is more importanter I guess.

Thank you for the hate on Az, Nv, and NM... This affects the economy in these states too.
But it doesn’t affect you so... So what right? We almost have our state back to Red from purple here in Az. The last thing we need is for Ca to destroy our economy too.
Aside from the fact that everything that costs Ca is a National debt from everyone in the country. They are the #1 recipient of all Federal income tax dollars. So wishing them bad luck is wishing us >ALL< bad luck.
Man I wish folks would do their homework before they assume an alternate reality from fact...
California’s problems are still YOUR problem like it or not...
They’ll be fine. They can just use their high speed rail line.
