Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear thought it was a good idea to start a podcast. He must have noticed Gavin Newsom's podcast and thought it was the thing to do if you are a presidential contender. Wrong move! As you can see, all Beshear accomplished was to expose himself as a really really BORING person. His words are spoken in very carefully measured staccato portions chock full of ennui. Nothing about his personality shines at all since all he projects is the cold soul of a professional member of the Nomenklatura who dares not risk saying anything interesting for fear of stirring up possible controversy hazardous to his political health.
Beshear actually did have a couple of interesting guests. On his first podcast his guest was John Morgan a well known and colorful lawyer in Florida who was originally from Kentucky. Morgan, as usual, was quite interesting but every time Beshear interjected he sucked all the energy out of the room with his downbeat carefully measured speaking pattern.
On his third podcast, one of the guests was Beshear's own wife who came across as a bubbly, dare I say, INTERESTING character who was introduced in a segment about "Five Things You Didn't Know About Andy Beshear." I figured Beshear would relax talking with his own wife. I was wrong. Instead he came off as stiff and formal and careful as in the other podcasts. Somehow he made even the revelation that he mucked horse stalls boring. It actually is hard to make the topic of mucking horse stalls boring but somehow Beshear managed to do just that. Also revealed was that one of the highlights of his life was using patio furniture indoors. YAWN!

Thank you very much and God bless you.
PING!
Possible Dem Presidential candidate in 2028.
Is that as in Morgan & Morgan, for the people?
Gavin Newsom is their best bet. But he may not be radical enough to win the primaries.
King Andy as we call him here in Kentucky after what he did to all of us during covid.
I would love to see him forced to conduct a genuine debate with JD
Yup! And he told some interesting stories such as about when he moved to Florida from Kentucky or witnessed a poker game with Willie Nelson but Beshear kept attempting to kill the mood with his wet blanket interjections.
IDK why KY seems so messed up and is falling behind neighboring states. Beshear, Massie and Paul are pretty strange and sorry political selections .
Just look how far KY has fallen behind TN although both states have similar areas, geographies and climate.

Democrats nominated Biden from his basement because “he is a moderate and a centrist”.
Which turned out to be a complete bunk.
He was neither.
Instead he was a trojan horse puppet to be used by autopen and it’s shadowy cabal.
But the point is, you have the likes of AOC which IS radical enough to the hardcore leftists, but she will lose to Newsom for the same reasons. He is going to present himself as a moderate, and it’s going to work.
The reason it will work is because democrats only care about winning power back. They don’t and wont vote for AOC in the primaries because they will fear that she can’t win the general election.
Of course Newsom is no moderate.
But that doesn’t matter. What matters is how he gets packaged and if the primary voters think he can win.
The one who scares me long term in Spanberger. She will win the Virginia governor race. I expect her to be the frontrunner in 2032.
CIA Chick? Naw!
I wouldn’t worry too much about Andy. He is boring as hell. The only time he gets fired up is when he’s banning people from church on Easter.
He won in Kentucky, imo, because of several lucky factors:
1) His daddy’s name. His dad was a reasonably moderate Dem Governor
2) Some poor opponents. A very unpopular incumbent and an unknown
3) To get rid of the Gov that dems hated, they ran a practice run (2019) of Dominion voting machines.
He’ll have very little support nationally
Yes “Conservatives” in Kentucky didn’t want to vote for a black guy.
Cameron got a large majority of the Republican votes. But yes, there are certain blocks, especially in rural eastern Ky that didn’t show up to vote.
Yes.
You left off the “dot com” :-)
Beshear had approval ratings in the mid to upper 60s in that election, difficult for any candidate to defeat not only an incumbent - but an incumbent that popular. Cameron also had little money compared to Beshear as the donor class considered it unwinnable, and Beshear spent the whole campaign portraying Cameron as an anti-abortion extremist who wanted girls to be raped and die in childbirth - Cameron did not have the funds to adequately respond to that intense, nonstop smear campaign.
And for whatever reason, Republicans still run with a built-in disadvantage for the governor’s office - if you look at the historical pattern of how governor’s races go, Cameron did above average for a Republican. He also carried Pike County - if racism was still a factor that would not have occurred (keep in mind Cameron was also an incumbent office holder who had been elected, so Kentucky is not adverse to electing minority candidates - and he also wasn’t the first). In any event, it is sort of like how Massachusetts for awhile it was still very difficult for Democrats to win their governor’s mansion despite how far left it voted in every other election.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_Kentucky_gubernatorial_election - take a tour from time Kentucky started to become a nationally “red state” to the present but how governor’s races typically have gone - not just results but specifically the map showing the pattern of how the counties voted.
We have income tax and property tax in Kentucky...which they don’t have in Tennessee. That may have something to do with it.
Beshear won because of the teachers. Our previous governor was going to require the overpaid princesses contribute to their healthcare costs, a whole $100. (After 20 years, they collect 100% pensions.) They lost their collective minds and did their best to destroy him. Add the fact that Andy was the Attorney General who sued the governor over every single decision and Bevin was pushing uphill. Plus old weasel guts forced Louisville and Lexington polling places (both Democrat strongholds) to stay open an extra two hours on Election night. Beshear won with less than 5,000 votes over Bevin, and the MSM demanded that Bevin not contest the election. Beshear is dirty scum, just like his daddy. Good ole Christian, deacon in his church my ass! He supports abortion.
Kentucky can have him back. The last thing FL needs is an ambulance chaser for governor. Our insurance industry is a mess as it is. He never has to worry about sharks when he swims in the gulf, even they have standards. His billboards are vulgar (size matters) and one even mocked Christmas (Feliz Lawvidad); I’m no prude, but I also am not inappropriate.
