Mark Carney is riding an anti-Trump wave. Will that be enough to win Canada’s election?

Monday’s Canadian federal election is likely to determine the economic future of the country for years to come. Someone should inform the Conservatives and the New Democratic party (NDP). On 6 January this year, Justin Trudeau announced his resignation as prime minister and leader of the Liberal party, which had been in power since 2015. His resignation came amid plummeting support: the Liberals hadn’t formed a majority government since 2019 and on the day Trudeau resigned, the party netted its lowest approval rating at 20%. After a truncated leadership race, Mark Carney became Canada’s prime minister and leader of the Liberal party. He is now on the brink of retaining his position.

The Tories are gaining in the last while and it is looking like a smaller majority for the Liberals than what was expected at the beginning. Even with a Liberal win, there are likely going to be those few pleasant surprises for the Tories with gains in Ontario and even the Maritimes.

People here who will yammer on about how the Tories blew a 25-point lead back in January do not take into consideration that such a lead was more of a verdict on Justin himself and that the Liberals were certainly not going to trot him out for one more election if it meant him being destroyed like that. Nonetheless, Carney is likely going to be that serious disappointment to many within one or two years from now.

Trump has my 100% support but stirring this up in Canada before the election was a mistake.

It wasn’t.

The liberals are the natural ruling party of Canada.

Women and the college educated support them overwhelming.

look, it’s freezing up there

then there’s the issue of serving poutine fries in McDonald’s

some Canadian’s are cool as hell, but a lot just hate American’s

I honestly think most Canadian’s would accept the export of our Constitution.

It is OUR CONSTITUION that treatens the world.

Starting the tariff agenda against Canada and Mexico first was a political mistake and hurt our Conservative Canadian friends.

Trump should have stayed with the trade terms HE HAD NEGOTIATED INTO AGREEMENT WITH CANADA AND MEXICO IN HIS FIRST TERM.

Then after getting better trade and tariff terms with our global trade partners, he could have used that success to come back to Mexico and Canada. He might have then had a Conservative government in Ottawa.

The other factor in the Liberals very likely winning the election is Poilievre turned out to be a complete dud of a candidate.

You have to stir the pot. Else it burns and become of no use.

Origin of the Phrase Stir the Pot

“Stir the pot” is a phrase with its roots in the literal act of stirring a cooking pot. When cooking something in a giant pot, you have to stir it to keep the ingredients from sinking to the bottom and sticking. Stirring causes everything to rise to the surface and bump together; it also helps release flavors.

I like the original definition not the modern definition of pot stirring being negative.

Also, the liberals mitigated two of their main weaknesses by ditching Trudeau & the carbon tax on consumers.

They were always going to run against Trump after their Orange Boogeyman won the US Presidential Election.

If Canadians are dumb enough to vote against a politician (in another country) they never had much chance anyways . I just wish they had the same sense of national pride when India and China took over the place
