Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) introduced a bill with far-left Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA), which would almost certainly put Trump’s new tariffs entirely on ice. The legislation’s stated purpose is to ‘reassert’ the legislative branch’s power over tariff policy.
“The Trade Review Act of 2025” requires the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of imposing new tariffs. The president must also present a detailed rationale and analysis of the potential consequences for American businesses and consumers.
Moreover, the legislation will require ALL tariffs to be approved by Congress within 60 days, or they will automatically expire.

Doesn’t the president have to sign off on legislation for it to become law?
For the next two years conservatives in congress are going to be busy fighting Rino’s and therefore get nothing done.
Maria Cantwell, senator since 2001. (24 years)
Chuck Grassley, senator since 1981. (44 years)
Then there’s Rand Paul, Lisa Murkowski, Mitch McConnell, Susan Collins — all against Trump tariffs. Those four have been in office for a total of over 100 years. Paul (14 years), Murkowski (24 years), McConnell (40 years), Collins (28 years). Collins assured the voters she would only serve two terms.
Trump exposes everyone for who they truly are. Grassly has got to go.
Grassley is a scumbag who champions taxing Americans all over the globe. He just doesn’t like taxing foreigners, only Americans. He’s also 150 and still collecting social security. He shuuld be DOGEd
As an Iowan, I can say Grassley is a Luciferian, faux conservative. He is a 45 year Swamp Dweller
Iowa is a big grain corn and soy beans producing state. Wants low foreign tariffs on agricultural exports.
Does Congress have the super majority to over ride a Trump veto?
If it is a bill, it has to get a Presidential signature. What are the over/under odds the President signs that bill? I am betting -0-.
So...
Republicans want to thwart tariffs.
Republicans want Musk to step aside.
Republicans want co-critters to work and vote from home for 12 weeks.
There are no words...
Ok, there we have it. We live in a Marxist controlled world. “We the People” are screwed.
Yeah, we dont want all that investment.
Vetovetoveto.
Its just been 12 hours
Patience, grasshopper
DOW still higher than a year ago
"The usual suspects. Repeal the 17th and fix this garbage."
I agree.
The states need to include voter referendum to repeal 16th and 17th Amendments on ballots and continue to do so until 3/4 of states wake up and do so.
I hope you are right on both counts. If you are right, i there is very little chance it will become law because, even if he gets by the House, it will not survive a veto.
If you are right about the posturing, then these Republican Senators are simply conducting a charade to appease the voters back home but they will fall in line and be loyal Republicans when their vote on other issues really counts.
On the other hand, if they're not posturing about this issue but are actually convinced that tariffs are unsound policy that is really dangerous to the economy, they might send a few backdoor messages to Trump telling him that if he makes no accommodations on agricultural tariff policy, he will lose his critical battle for tax cuts and fail to get his, "big beautiful bill."
With Murkowski, Collins and Rand Paul announced opponents of tariffs , it may be easy to add a vindictive Mitch McConnell to the list of Republican senators who might be enough, if they can find an odd maverick to join them, such as Grassley, to scuttle the vital tax cutting legislation.
The probabilities are that Trump will be able to bring the renegades back on the reservation and pull it all off.
Even if it passes, it will be vetoed.
Will there ever be enough votes to override?
Maybe, but not any time soon.
Congress is now, and has always been chickensh!t.
There's even less chance of that happening that there is of Grassley's bill becoming law.
“The usual suspects. Repeal the 17th and fix this garbage.”
Can we repeal the 19th too? It would solve a lot of problems.
Hey! Somebody who gets it! Grassley is thee man to go to if you want something for the farmers...or ag industry. ADM..ETC.
