Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) introduced a bill with far-left Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA), which would almost certainly put Trump’s new tariffs entirely on ice. The legislation’s stated purpose is to ‘reassert’ the legislative branch’s power over tariff policy.
“The Trade Review Act of 2025” requires the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of imposing new tariffs. The president must also present a detailed rationale and analysis of the potential consequences for American businesses and consumers.
Moreover, the legislation will require ALL tariffs to be approved by Congress within 60 days, or they will automatically expire.

There was a time when we though it virtuous to tariff countries that used slave labor.
Kabuki theater, has to pass the house, unlikely and has to override a veto. Congress did this to themselves.
It is all posturing. Not a chance it will become law.
Grandstanding. It will never make through the house, and Trump will never sign it.
The usual suspects. Repeal the 17th and fix this garbage.
See who votes yes and if they are up for reelection in 26, they get primaried. Grassley is a RINO just like McConnell. Don’t trust any of them any longer.
Big Ag must be pissed...
This is the republican party. We need a wholesale replacement of our Con-gre$$, a fresh start if you will.
So now they wake up and want to have control over trade.
There’s a long list of things that Congress should have been doing the last 125 years that they figured would take care of itself while they slept.
But the stupid idiot Grassley is too shickenchit to “strike back” at the tyrannical, fascist DISTRICT judges. He’s a fraud. Deport his butt.
Good luck over riding that Veto Chuck. 🙄
BTTT
Chuck is just mad he didn’t get a chance to take some lucrative short positions in the stock market by seeing what Trump was going to do 48 hours prior
When are these two pixies going to pass an act making it ILLEGAL for the U.S. to pay tariffs on foreign goods sold to the U.S.? Oh, I’m sorry. We’re not going to be Great Again. We’re going to remain the United Suckers of Amerika. Hakeem Skyhook Jeffries, the Dollar Store Obama, is our new president now.
And on Que, the circular firing squad. The GOPe could screw up a steel ball. Damn near worthless.
I am kind of surprised the markets are reacting the way the are. I would have figured this would be priced in. If anything, Trump went lighter than he could have with “kind” tariffs of 50%. I would think the markets would like that 🤷🏻♂️
Someone needs to explain to Grassly that Iowa farm products in many countries have very high tariffs or in the case of the EU are virtually banned due to hysteria over GMO grain.
A do nothing Congress.
The thought here, such as is, is that more carefully considered legislation born tariffs are better than those imposed by the president?
Were the Smoot Hawley tariffs imposed by the President or congress?
What is the generally accepted view of their impact?
