Disney's live-action remake of "Snow White" is out in theaters, and with a miserable $42.2 million opening weekend, it's already proven to be a historic flop.
The film, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, cost at least $270 million to make, with tens of millions, if not more, spent on advertising. Given distribution and exhibition costs, it's likely Disney needed the film to make at least $800-850 million globally to break even. With the importance of the domestic market, US grosses needed to reach at least $400 million to give the entertainment giant a chance at profitability.
It might not even reach $100 million.
There are plenty of reasons why "Snow White" failed: the abandonment of the original source material, bewildering casting decisions, and horrifying CGI, as just a few examples.
But one of the most obvious was the film's open political stance, exemplified both in how Zegler spoke about the plot and original film, and her personal comments. Like, for example, saying she hopes Donald Trump and his supporters "never know peace."
Entertainment media, hoping to deflect blame away from their political perspective, tried to defend Zegler and left-wing politics in a new analysis of where the film made its money on opening weekend. But a closer look at their own data shows that red voters did in fact stay home, hurting the film's bottom line.

She wants to be the leader she was meant to be. To heck with what anybody else wants. They cut out a scene where a male starts to save her during a rock slide and Snow White says I don’t need your help. RZ was mad they cut it out. They should have made a thriller where she was Hitler’s unknown granddaughter and trying to establish the 4th Reich.
Do non-European ethnic groups remake their native fairy tales using white people, or would that be cultural appropriation of something?
The creators certainly shouldve foreseen this coming, half of america doesnt want the recycled woke garbage….. oh wait they did and still didnt matter.
Not familiar with that one, but I’ll pass. I’d say the animated Japanese movie “Grave of the Fireflies” about postwar Japan. One reviewer said after watching it, they were too depressed to commit suicide.
Snow White failed because it was a terrible movie trying to promote the DEI BS and other stuff. It was not well crafted film and did not tell a story. If it had been made right it would have been a very big success. Everything went wrong with this picture from conception to filming, including bad casting and using CGI when it wasn’t necessary. So Disney can take the $400 Million Loss, so far this year they have put out two huge bombs that are going to hit their bottom line for the second quarter like a Nuclear Missile.
Disney is in a death spiral. Their whole organization is run by leftists. They purged all of the conservatives. There’s no one in the room that brings a traditionalist or conservative point of view. Even if there were, they would be shunned. It would be a hostile work environment.
Don’t forget her first movie was the terrible remake of West Side Story with Director Steven Spielberg as director and it bombed also. In fact every film she has been in has lost money.
Now that's what I call a movie! 👍
They still make money from their theme parks so they can get away with losing money from their movies for the time being.
Looks nice! But I have always loved the one with Lesley Ann Warren. Beautiful lady and romantic version, with Rodgers and Hammerstein music.
“She can always ask her buddies in Hamas to watch the film.”
We don’t want to violate the Geneva convention.

Maybe they should really be asking where is all their liberal and feminist support packing the theaters?
I mean, if we’re the tiny minority, if we are the odd ones out, where is all their support from the huge majority that loves them?
Its hard to believe this movie cost $270 million, just in basic production - not even counting marketing, promotions, etc...
What could possibly have been so “special” about it to make it so costly?
Maybe they were waiting for it to come on a streaming service, and watch it at home?
How costly are all the special effects and computer graphics?
It would be interesting to see all the costs of making a movie. There are many people off camera ,behind the scenes, who all need to be paid. Do they have costs for camera equipment as part of the cost of making a movie?
That Zegler chick is pretty homely.
An obvious DEI hire.
She looks kind of like AOC.
My vote is for Heidi!
