Trump Delivers: VA, NOAA, HHS See Massive Layoffs in Efficiency Push, Cuts Over 100,000 Jobs to Streamline Government

President Trump is making waves with a decisive move to slash bloated government bureaucracy. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is axing around 1,000 jobs, following a previous cut of 1,300. This will shrink NOAA’s workforce by 20%, with concerns rising among scientists about potential gaps in weather forecasting as hurricane season nears.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is also taking major steps, planning to cut 80,000 jobs — aiming to revert to leaner, 2019-level staffing. This bold move is meant to improve healthcare services for veterans while reducing wasteful spending.

Many Freepers like me receive a disability check from the VA every month. Right now I'm dealing with two Agent Orange cancers (prostate and bladder) and I'm 100% disabled. A reduction in force of 80,000 employees will certainly cause some pain. Let's hope they figure it all out quickly without hurting our vets.

Featherbedding is the practice of hiring more workers than are needed to perform a given job, or to adopt work procedures which appear pointless,

Absolute great definition. I believe that Musk and company can streamline the government to the effectiveness and efficiency of his companies.

Federal workforce expansion was Bidens way of making employment figures look good, reward supporters and blocs the dems consider their permanent voters. Few reports of these mass reductions are honestly reporting that the workforce in many of these agencies, after cuts, will be about what they were in 2020-21. And too many of the hires under Biden were for dei or to staff corrupt, wasteful, useless or worse programs.

“...aiming to revert to leaner, 2019-level staffing. This bold move is meant to improve healthcare services for veterans while reducing wasteful spending.”

As a (still relatively healthy) Vet, I’m all for this, as long as they don’t slash too deeply for those that need mental health services.

Lack of mental health services for Veterans is a MAIN CAUSE of homelessness and crazy people living on the streets. Homeless female Veterans (sometimes with children in tow) are growing in numbers. :(

I’d better send a note to Trump and his new VA Appointee, Doug Collins. ;)

Has the addition of 80,000 new hires in the past 5 years appreciably improved services over what you were receiving in 2018-19 under Trump?

President Trump is making waves with a decisive (move to slash bloated government) bureaucracy.

The guilty the first to complain again.

So they hired 80,000 people since 2019?!

Keep in mind that every agency is required to provide RIF (reduction in force) plans to the WH this month.

These cuts are before the RIFs even begin.

The party is just getting started.

Out of those 80,000 hired voters, 80,000 of them do no work.
