The only problem?
Senators are FORBIDDEN from making money doing speaking engagements.
Is Cory Booker VIOLATING Senate law?
It looks like it.
Senate Rules: Senate Rule XXXVI bans honoraria. Senators cannot accept fees for speeches, lectures, or public appearances tied to their official duties. Exceptions exist for travel, lodging, and meals, but these are capped and must be disclosed.
- Legal Limits: Federal law (5 U.S.C. § 7351) reinforces that congressional members cannot profit from outside speaking gigs while in office. The maximum outside income for 2025 is set at 15% of their base salary ($174,000), or about $26,100 annually, but this applies to earned income like consulting—not honoraria, which are outright banned.

There’s a Senator with only $4 million in the bank? WTF... Most of them should be worth at least $50 million before they get the job... After they get elected that amount should increase substantially.
If the senate investigates and finds he violated their code of conduct I wonder what sort of a slap on the wrist he would get.
Laws are for little people.
Maybe the DOJ should look into it. Let’s hope.
Booker wasn't elected to the U.S. Senate until 2013 -- so he had 13 years to make speaking appearances before any Senate code of conduct would even apply. What kind of B.S. article is this?
Apparently it it recycled old info from 2019 and he claimed the income was from the time he was Newark mayor until 2013 when he joined the US Senate.
Total slacker. dimmocrap politicians have miled, 5x, 7x, up to 30x that amount. Booker looks clean when compared.
Someone should ask Spartacus about his taking big bucks from the water company that supplied Newark when he was it’s mayor.
Where’s the money really coming from, Booker?
How much of that USAID money supplied to NGGOs was redirected right back to the politicians funding USAID in board memberships and "speaking fees."
Graham alone was collecting a nice $94K per year for one NGO board membership.
“Speaking Engagements” are another forum of legal bribery. You pay a politician a 6 figure fee to come give a speech to your group or school. Nothing any politicians has to say is worth $2500 per minute. Anyone paying these fees is guilty of fraud by breach of fiduciary duty
