So is Musk’s plan to fire US government workers and replace them with cheaper H1-Bs to save money?

Make the 2025-2026 budget exactly the same as the 2019 budget.

Freeze it in place for 4 years barring a 2/3rds vote of the Congress to repeal.

NONE of the so called mandatory spending is authorized under the Constitution. That’s the issue.

Just use those 87,000 IRS agents Biden hired to audit our government. I’ll bet we could cut a third of the budget just from the fraud and money laundering done by our politicians and their lobbyists.

I believe the president of Hungary is saying 50% of the money sent to Ukraine ended up in the pockets of US politicians.

Offer them a 1% bounty on any fraud they find.

I think the military has on and off budget items.

That would benefit 150 million American tax payers.

This globe trotting, smug academic a-hole is awfully cavalier about whacking off benefits some of us have spent a lifetime paying for.

Pretty sure that’s what the 500 dollar hammers and 5000 dollar toilets are covering.

With all due respect, your anger should be directed at those who spent your money on political payoffs to their supporters, and wasteful programs. The money isn’t there. That’s not Musks fault. And pretending it’s there by deficit spending isn’t going to help fix the problem.

I’m not for DOGE. I don’t want the government more efficiently arresting abortion clinic protesters. Or mams and dads going to school board meetings. I want a Department of Constitutional Alignment. If it ain’t one of the enumerated powers it gets deleted. That will take care of about 99% of the federal government.

That 1099-k with the $600 reporting mandate should be chucked. It will produce millions of 1040s where no tax is due.

People in business already have this criteria via 1099's.

Grandma's couch and grandpas tools sold on ebay should not be subject to this "scrutiny".

Social Security is and has always been an intergenerational transfer program. We were never praying into it for our own retirement. We’ve been praying for our parents and their generation. It’s on our kids to pay for ours. If they can’t or won’t pay, then too bad for us, I guess

Nuclear related military spending is over in the Energy Dept budget. I don’t know how big that might be but that’s where it resides.

“Pretty sure that’s what the 500 dollar hammers and 5000 dollar toilets are covering.”

Those numbers aren’t real. Military purchase orders for consumer grade items are very low per unit. But one particular piece will have the vendor’s entire agreed upon profit attached to it. So all of the run but one will sell for just cents. And one lone piece will have what looks like an outrageously high price.

Milspec items are a different matter. But unlike consumer grade products they have to be special built to withstand combat.

Socialist Security came into being in 1935. At the time, the average life expectancy was 59.9 years for men and 63.9 years for women.

Now, it’s in the upper 70s. It is doomed to failure.
