Say what you will about Bollywood films from India but you have to admit they have the most realistic special effects. Here is a scene from the 2023 film ""Bhagavanth Kesari" in which you can see for yourselves the incredible effort that went into making the special effects look completely realistic. And if you don't believe me then, well, to quote the main character in the film, "Bro! I don't care!"
PING!
How hard is it to film dancing in a water fountain realistically?
Not since ‘The 7th Voyage of Sinbad’ have I seen such a special effects tour de force!
Bollywood, K-dramas, J-dramas, C-dramas are all far superior to anything Hollywood is putting out.
My feeds are full of Asian entertainment.
Witty, understated comedy, great action movies, sweet romances, compelling drama/revenge stories, it’s all good.
Very little or almost no woke junk at all.
The Chinese seem to have the corner on the gravity defying jumping shtick. Two opponents go at it with swords or sticks and when they jump they linger for many seconds in the air before returning slooooowly to the ground.
I saw that one at the local library where they had free movies for kids every Saturday.
The stop-action skeleton fighting scene was my favorite.
Hollywood now suffers from what I would call “The Drunk Cameraman effect” in which the camera can’t hold still long enough to continue the story line. Too much 1 second cuts between actions and such.
Classic. Ray Harryhausen.
So true! It was fascinating in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, but it’s become common now.
The best c-drama I’ve seen is “Love Between Fairy and Demon.”
Campy, funny, good action scenes, interesting story lines, gorgeous costumes, beautiful sets, a slow burn romance, and an epic self-sacrifice death scene.
If you can get past the lead actress’ childish voice (it gets deeper as the series progresses and she matures) in the first episode, you will be hooked.
Everyone in my house I showed it to wound up watching it to the end, even the guys. I’ve seen it 4 times.
It’s like Die Hard or Black Hawk Down. If you are scrolling and come across it, you just have to watch it because you know another good scene is coming up.
Light skins vs dark skins.
Are you kidding? Forget special effects. I don’t know of another movie industry so hopelessly stuck in the vaudeville and exaggerated burlesque of the 1920s as Bollywood today. It is singularly lacking imagination in even basic things like character development and nuanced facial expressions.
What a crude joke of a scene.
Yes, if they’re shot by Jordan Peele.
I don’t know. You can say the same about Hollywood.
That is simply not true. Hollywood is vastly sophisticated in its output over the decades, even if the current superhero crap is nonsensical and reductive. Bollywood on the other hand has never demonstrated the kind of cinematic and storytelling mastery in its nearly 9 decades of existence.
That sucked donkey dicks.
Hollywood is making crap movies nowadays. It's like they've forgotten how to make a decent flick.
It’s unintentional comedy.
