How is switching to bitcoin not totalitarian?

Because Bitcoin is not tied to any central bank or country. Therefore, a central government cannot turn it on or off. Bitcoin cannot be inflated like dollars or central bank currency.

Those are two of the reasons why Bitcoin is better than a central bank digital currency.

Because Bitcoin is decentralized, not under anyone's control (it functions by concensus, and anyone can fork it and create their own version if they want to try to steal its thunder). It is also censorship-resistant, in direct contrast to the central bank digital currencies.

The real question is, why would anyone imagine that bitcoin it "totalitarian" when it was designed to be anti-totalitarian? "Yes, [we will not find a solution to political problems in cryptography,] but we can win a major battle in the arms race and gain a new territory of freedom for several years." - Satoshi Nakamoto

The Bible passages people cite for stuff like this describe a mark on people and punishment for those who do not comply. Notice that they say nothing about one currency or another being involved for payment. It’s weird (and frustrating) how so many people make stuff up in their heads and think it’s “biblical” when they are actually completely departing from the actual text. Maybe there will be a single global currency, and maybe not. And maybe it will be a CBDC, or maybe it will be tulips for all we know. None of that ties in to the biblical text. (And note that a mark may - or may not - involve a microchip or whatever bugaboo people imagine.)

Now they ARE trying for an implantable microchip for passports 🛂 and even microchips for payments
