CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten expressed surprise Monday at the significant decline in Americans’ trust in the FBI following the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
President-elect Donald Trump announced Saturday that he will nominate former Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense Kash Patel as his FBI Director. Enten, on “CNN News Central,” suggested Patel’s potential reform agenda might resonate with the public due to the agency’s dwindling credibility among Americans.

“I think Patel has real reason to believe that Americans would go along with changes that he might potentially make at the FBI and there’s a reason why Donald Trump feels like he can make this change,” Enten told CNN anchor Kate Bolduan. “It’s because, if you look here, ‘FBI is doing an excellent or a good job,'” he read off the screen. “Look at this time trend line. You go back to 2014, right? It was 59% of Americans. Then 57% in 2019, 50% in 2022.”
“Look at where we are today. My goodness gracious. Just 41% of Americans think the ‘FBI is doing an excellent or good job.’ That is by far the lowest number this century,” he continued. “The bottom line is, during the Trump administration, obviously there were the investigations into Donald Trump, you saw a little bit of drop then and then post January 6th. Look at that drop, 50% now 41%. My goodness gracious, Kate Bolduan.”
Bolduan then asked Enten about how Americans view the FBI “along party lines,” with Enten showing a graphic revealing that just over one fourth of Republicans view the agency favorably.
“Oh geez!” Bolduan exclaimed.
“Among Republicans, is the FBI ‘doing an excellent or good job’ — this is where you really see the drop off. You go back to 2014 … It was 62%. 2019, look at that, 46%. 2022, 29%. Now we’re tied for the lowest point this century among Republicans at 26%,” Enten said. “That is a drop of more than half since 2014. So again, you saw some of that drop during the Trump administration. You know, obviously he replaced [former FBI Director] James Comey, and then you see it really after January 6th, 29%. And now 26%. That is a tremendous, tremendous drop off among Republicans.”
The data reporter also noted Democrats’ faith in the FBI surged from 54% in 2014 to 79% in 2022 before falling to 67% in 2024.
“The bottom line is this … Republicans have become much less trusting of the FBI, Democrats have become more trusting, though the number who trust it now, who think it’s ‘doing an excellent or good job,’ is lower than it was two years ago,” he said. “And that is why we have the lowest percentage this century of Americans overall, who believe the FBI is doing an excellent or good job.”

Consider how hard the FBI went after, say, BLM protesters and looters, Antifa in the Summer of 2020 (welp, they didn’t), compared to Jan 6 2021.
Did they not think people would notice?

Imagine what the FBI ratings would be if the media reported J6 accurately.

I mistrusted the FBI before J6 so if there was any room left over for a plunge you can imagine what that might turn into.

If you only started distrusting the FBI after January 6, 2021 then you haven’t been paying attention. Remember the FBI Hostage Roasting Team in Waco in 1993? Remember the first action by the FBI in the 1996 Olympic Park bombing in 1996 was to try to frame Richard Jewell? What need does the Federal Bureau of Investigation have with actual investigation. Any one of us could probably come up with a dozen other incidents of massive overkill, framing or cover up by the FBI.
Could it have had something to do with the over two billions dollars worth of damage done by BLM/Antifa/Soros AstroTurf thugs - vs an "OCCUPY" protest gone bad that lasted less than one day with ZERO fires, graffiti, gunfire etc and two broken windows and one broken door? The FBI appeared to be encouraging what little violence there was.
Could that be part of why the American people started doubting the FBI?
And there's so much more - maybe their 'lone wolf hunt' that ONLY was targeted conservative young men? Or trying to expose people who objected to the sexual weirdo community going 'too far' as in 'after children'? Or targeting school board meetings and targeting parents and Catholics? Or supporting cartels with their push to move illegals into the country? Or their hated of conservatives to the point to saying they could smell them driving past Walmart? Or working with the SPLC to portray conservatives as terrorists? ETC ETC ETC....
Probably the same types that believe Blah Hannity and his “The rank and file agents are hard working patriots, it’s just the leadership that’s corrupt” BS.

Hopefully we will find out the extent of the FBI involvement in the J6 riot shortly after Trump takes office.
I give the fbi Zero trust, and it deserves even less.
They went from a largely respected institution to one that is totally gone clown world, a bad joke, with everyone that can think independent of the party line propaganda.
Among that 26% is the Senate rino’s. It will only take if them to scuttle Patel’s confirmation thanks to the four Senate races the rats stole a month ago

And a most important happening in recent decades is the murder attempt on President Trump in PA and the other criminal at the Mar-a-Lago fence line. Of course the MSM won’t report anything, yet this is the thing the new Patel/staff at the FBI will find out and go public. There are all kinds of mysteries about the assassination (and video) and loaded with unanswered questions from why there weren’t any drones, true staff of FBI agents, to the silverware wiped clean/removed and from the Crook’s house. The nearby gun range that the FBI used, the list is endless.
The blood is on somebody’s hands and the public will find out.
