In a bold declaration, President-elect Donald Trump announced plans to impose sweeping tariffs on America’s largest trading partners, Canada and Mexico, along with additional duties on Chinese imports. These measures are set to take effect on his first day in office, underscoring his commitment to reshaping U.S. trade policy.
Trump detailed a 25 percent tariff on all imports from Canada and Mexico, citing the ongoing issues of illegal immigration and the trafficking of illicit drugs like fentanyl.
On Truth Social, he declared, “On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States.”

The president-elect also announced a 10 percent tariff on Chinese goods, adding to existing trade penalties. Trump accused Beijing of failing to take action against the flow of illegal drugs entering the U.S. from Mexico, a claim aimed at holding the Chinese government accountable for its role in global trade dynamics.
These tariffs represent a significant escalation in Trump’s economic policies, building on his first-term trade battles. Analysts warn that the proposed tariffs could breach the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), a trade deal signed under Trump’s administration that fostered duty-free trade between the nations.
Markets reacted swiftly, with the U.S. dollar climbing against the Mexican peso and Canadian dollar, while U.S. stock futures dipped. Economists predict that the tariff hikes could stoke inflation, disrupt global supply chains, and trigger retaliatory measures from affected nations.
The announcement has drawn sharp criticism from trade experts who warn of 1930s-style protectionism. As Trump prepares to take office, the debate over these aggressive trade policies is poised to dominate the economic landscape in the coming months.
Ya gotta love it. 😉
he should offer mexico a credit if they stop the current hoard of illegals headed here.
China should be 25% as all they do is ship poison to the states
I would love to see every country that enabled their (illegal) “immigrants” to pay a severe price. It needs to be so painful that they won’t do it again, even under a Democrat administration. I consider sending illegal aliens into the United States a declaration of war.
The current 25% stays Biden never dropped it ...this is an additional 10 percent cent.
Only 10 percent for Chy-Na?
Thank you. I stand corrected.
Woo-hoo!
Winning, Winning, Winning!!!
Trump should shut off all commercial business with every country that is sending us their jailbirds. Shut is all down.
No trade and no foreign aid.
Money talks. BS walks.
No. No ya don't.
Justin from Canada will not be pleased. One of Trump’s all time greatest insults.
This Albertan is astonished at how uniformly stupid Americans are.
Apparently Americans are too stupid to understand how borders work.
Canaduh is not going to turn itself into some sort of prison that stops anyone from crossing into the US. Your idiot tourists would be unable to return home to the US, since we wouldn’t want anyone to go from here to there on pain of idiot Americans having to pay 25% more for anything they buy from Canaduh. Hahaha how ridiculous!
If America wants to stop people from illegally entering, it must police its own border entry points. Of course that math is too simple for Retards who take clot shots up the old wazoo.
You fools are applauding paying 25% more for raw materials such as timber, oil and wheat. That money will go to your Federal Government.
If you don’t want illegals, stop them at your border. We are not going to tell people that they cannot enter the US, that is YOUR responsibility.
I love Trump, but either he is suffering from a low oxygen condition from all the blood clots, or he is counting on idiots like you to cut your own balls off by paying 25% more for imports. Your wealthy people will pay it. Your seniors and idiot white trash Fentanyl and Cocaine addicts cannot afford it and will stay living on the street.
All that being said, I do agree with taxing cash transfers to foreign families and do agree that would have a large effect on your current problems.
Justin from Canada will not be pleased.

The one immediate reaction that I’d like to have seen is Chrystia Freeland who is the Canadian Finance Minister.... She probably can’t quite give Coup-malala a run for her money but in reading this Post article, it seems it would be close.....
Here’s a mystery maybe you an answer — Canada has arguably a MORE GENEROUS welfare system compared to the USA.
Why would an illegal immigrant who already made it to Canada ( by whatever means ) bother to cross the border to the USA isntead of just STAYING in Canada to enjoy the benefits provided for immigrants?
It is too cold in Canada?
I don’t know why any Caucasian would ever leave Alberta to go live in the US. I do know that most brown people cannot handle the cold here.
And again, we are not Cuba. We are not going to stop anyone from trying to enter the US, that is your job. We will turn away those we do not want here and that is our business, but we will not be dictating who can leave our country. Lay down the bong, or stop taking the damn clot shots or whatever.
I cannot believe this has to be spelled out and still most of you will be unable to understand.
He should demand that Mexico prosecute NGO leaders and members for Fraud, for misleading ‘migrants’ to believe that the US would never enforce its immigration laws.
I want them all to spend the rest of their lives in a Mexican prison.
Yeh, yeh I do. 5D chess in action.
RE: I cannot believe this has to be spelled out and still most of you will be unable to understand
Well, here’s my initial question — What does Canada do with people who are there illegally? Do you feed/shelter/educate them? Do they get to work?
In the first place, how did these illegals get there?
