Erik Prince is a former Navy SEAL officer and founder of Blackwater Private Military Company.
During their discussion, Prince pointed out how Russia changed the game this past week following the taunting of the US and NATO attacks inside the Russian borders.
According to Prince, the US has “no means” to shoot down Russia’s Mach 9 hypersonic missile like the one that was fired into Ukraine last week!

And, Russia has now had the opportunity to operationally test the missile. That will go a long way towards refining and improving the system and keep them well in front of currently lagging US systems.

He has no idea what is spouting. Its just an IRBM which the Patriot Battery is designed to take out in its terminal stage. If not that then THAAD will do the trick.
Factoids:
1) About 80% of the US nuclear warhead inventory are on submarines. It’s about 40% for the Russians.
2) The US has about 44 interceptors mission tasked to kill incoming ballistic missions. Assessed effectiveness... 50%. So at most you can hit 22 incoming warheads.
3) Russian boomer submarines number 11. Each sub has 16 missiles aboard and each missile MIRVs to 6 warheads. Total missiles in the fleet — 176. X6 for warheads 1056.
Of which 44 might be intercepted.
So talk of the US having nothing to stop a newly revealed hypersonic IRBM is a bit silly. We also can’t stop more than 5% of current, non hypersonic missiles.
And that’s just the first wave from submarines. Their ICBMs and air-launched weapons, that likely will be hypersonic, come later.
Our coastal proximity to our ICBM fields, though as far as we could get them, is a fundamental geographical Russian advantage. Their weapons are on subs, like ours, but their ICBMs are not only very far from any coasts, they are also mobile.
And they have so much surface area their oil will run out long after ours.
Wrong enemy to have. We will be begging for that oil someday.
It wasnt long ago they were skimping, scrounging and scheming for pennies for Ukraine and its border, now they magically have $7 Billion appear to toss down that black hole.
Still nothing for North Carolina and Hurricane victims and defending the USA border.

For starters, being hypersonic works at crossed purposes with being undetectable because air friction will super-heat the skin, producing a YUGE infrared signature and making it more easily detectable than slow-poke supersonics. Not to mention being hypersonic requires thin air (= high altitude).
The Godless Russians spent themselves into bankruptcy trying to match America’s Star Wars program (which never really existed). This could be more of the same in reverse. “Let’s goad the Yanks into building an unworkable and hyper-expensive weapons system.”
We’ll have to see one used in anger to determine which side knows what they’re talking about.

Now look at a map of Russia (Novosibersk) and distance from a coast.
If hypersonics require thin air, high altitude, then why would air friction exist.
I still don't get your point. ICBMs are tracked to attack over the pole not from E-W. Distance from either coast is moot.

All ballistic missiles are hypersonic. And if you don’t get them before they hit their zenith….you are not hitting them.
All of this Russian Missile crap is hyperbole. I continue to be surprised at the number of FR folks who are falling for the drama.
Russia isn’t going to nuke anyone. They are simply struggling to convince their own population why they cannot beat a bunch of farmers in three years. It must be embarrassing.
Ukraine shot down a hypersonic missile over Kiev with a Patriot missile. I would not count on that happening often but I also have no doubt the next generation of laser anti-missile systems will be able to do the job. How long before those are operational I don’t know but light is a lot faster than any missile will ever travel.
The other question is how many hypersonic missiles does Russia actually have and how many can it produce? My guess would be not a lot. Components and materials are likely scarce which is why we have seen very few of Russia’s wonder weapons on the front lines in Ukraine. Instead we 1970’s era tanks and 50 year old contract soldiers hired at high cost and expended like corn dogs at an LSU game.
