The expansion of China’s amphibious force is nothing short of historic.
A decade ago, China had no large amphibious platforms. Now it has four big flat-decked amphibs alongside a force of nine landing platform docks (LPDs), and will soon welcome the biggest amphibious assault ships in the world. This is a rate of increase reminiscent of the great dreadnought races of the early 20th century, when Britain, Japan, Germany, and the United States built up spectacular fleets of large battleships in not much more than a decade.
However, it is also one-sided; American shipbuilding has shown no inclination to try to keep up with Chinese expansion.

It’s certainly not for duck tours.

It’s not the year 1900 anymore. Wouldn’t one missile or one torpedo be enough to disable or sink a ChiCom amphibious assault ship?
They’ve been harping Russia, Russia, Russia as a distraction, while collaborating with China to dethrone the US as the world leader, to create a socialist/authoritarian pattern for the Great Reset.
It’s ok...
Our Naval life rafts now identify as missle friggates, subs and carriers!
Exactly correct, but add a drone or a dozen or two to the list, aerial, surface, and submarine.
The Communist party have to keep those masses of humanity busy building things, amphibious assault platforms...empty cities...otherwise they’ll have too much time to think about their situation and start hanging every single one of the communists from lampposts. It’s coming anyway...they’re just conducting a delaying tactic while they secure their escape routes and banking accounts.
They’ll never make it 100 miles across the strait.
While neocons and the MIC worry about a possible future invasion of Taiwan
The USA has been invaded by 20 million illegals.
Waste of time.
American shipbuilding has shown no inclination to try to keep up with Chinese expansion.

Chinese ship building rate is 225 times the US.
This concerning how? 🙄
**It’s not the year 1900 anymore. Wouldn’t one missile or one torpedo be enough to disable or sink a ChiCom amphibious assault ship?**
Yep. Look at what drones did to the Black Sea Fleet.
Deporting illegal aliens is a far easier task than replacing the high end computer chips that only Taiwan is producing. A free Taiwan is a National Security issue.
“American shipbuilding has shown no inclination to try to keep up with Chinese expansion”
That’s because we have satellites that allow is to watch the ChiComs take a few cargo ships and stick a flat deck on them and and instead of the drop down front they put an entry/exit in the side of the thing and call it an assault ship. They’re crap just like everything else the Chinese build. A few drones and they’re on the bottom of the straits.
Whoever wrote this article is an idiot. 🙄

Odd title for election day, don't you think?
The ChiComs can’t afford to lighten up on Taiwan. They need it for a distraction, if nothing else. It’s the one issue that can unite the entire country, or so they hope. What else can they do with 100 million extra young men?
To supplement their “fishing fleet”?
Really long range artillery with smart terminal guidance munitions ought to be able to do the job somewhat inexpensively. The strait is only some 100 miles across. Put up stealthie drones half-way for targeting info, and fire for effect.
For those who say we don’t have artillery rounds that can reach 70-80 miles; A new ramjet-propelled shell from a Norwegian company could boost the ERCA’s range up to the 60-80 mile range.
