Early voting in Western New York
Self | Jimjohn

Working the poles for early voting in Western New York. Niagara county. Lines out the door from when the polls open today. It has been non-stop and it continues.

It looks like an ordinary election day.

I wonder how it's looking in other parts of the country

“poles”?

Are the women out there pole dancing before they go to the polls.

A man was caught in a raging flood & forced to seek safety on the roof of his home as the water contined to rise. Soon a man in a boat came by & urgd him to get in. The man replied: “The Lord will save me” & waved him off. The water rose higher & another boat drifted by & he again declined, & declared “The Lord will save me.” This repeated 3 times until the water rose OVER the roof & the man drowned! Upon reaching the pearly gates, the Lord greeted him & the man asked Him why He failed to save him. The Lord replied, “My son, I sent boats for you but YOU REFUSED TO GET IN!”

What does this have to do with the most critical national election in our history? EVERYTHING!

Thank you...that was perfect

Niagara County is a bit more right-leaning. Unfortunately, there are too many idiots in Erie County, which is why this area remains a backwater.

well, how about the Czechs, the Irish, the Italians, the.....well,you know the rest.....

Next time, try “polls”......“

Next time why don’t YOU try addressing the appropriate poster

Polls are voting sites

Poles are not.

Thanks, cgbg.

I read that article before I saw your response to my concerns. I’m reasonably good at reading articles, graphs and charts. Nonetheless, I’m not sure I fully understand all the nuances of the Pew Research article. Your commentary is helpful.

We can all get the news from a variety of sites, but it is the posters, the comments, and sometimes the levity that brings us back to FreeRepublic. Posters like you help keep FR an oasis in the desert of the internet.

Take care,
Oldplayer

Thanks.

Another poster made some ridiculously optimistic comment about the election and I decided to look up some data to blow them out of the water and found this article...

which proved they were correct!

In our county, everyone votes at one place during early voting. We aren’t a heavily-populated county - around 45K total.
The Republican women’s group always sets up our tent across the drive from the door and we can watch people going in and out and up until two days ago, wait time was around 45 minutes. And the line was looooooong. It’s starting to slow down a little after a week of voting and wait time was around 30 minutes the past two days.
Our election commission knew this would be a busy two weeks and they prepared for it, with more poll workers and a couple more voting booths than usual.

Early voting ends next Thursday and at the rate things are going, there won’t be a whole lot of people left to vote on election day. LOL We’ve never seen a turnout like this.
Not sweating the final tally here. This is Trump country. :-)

Early voted today in rural SW Michigan. Line out the door to the street this morning, was too busy for me so I returned this afternoon to cast my ballot with a much more reasonable line.

Also, one lady yelled “I did it, first time ever!” as she left the building. Also, multiple people with MAGA hats getting vocal when told to remove them inside the polling room. That’s against the law in Michigan. I’m glad they were on the right side but sheesh people, don’t freak out. Low IQ voters I guess.

Here in a Republican suburb west of Detroit the line stretched across the parking lot into an adjacent field at 10 am, an hour after the first day of early voting began. One poll worker told us people were lined up at 8 am. There were about 20 voting booths. The poll workers kept saying they never expected this big of a turnout. It took about an hour from the time I got in line to walking out the door, and there was still a long line.

I voted in Florida on Wednesday.

There was no line.

I read today that 30% of the voters in my county (Sarasota) voted already, with the Democratic turnout percentage being greater than the Republican turnout percentage.

In NW Florida Yesterday I walked in and I must have missed the crowd because, other than poll workers, I was the only one in there. I passed one other person who was going in as I went out.
