I find something rather odd - (and I do not deny there are old guys fighting for Ukraine - their version of the draft only recently even began to seriously look at younger men - kind of odd... then I got to looking - an Russia has done almost the exact same thing. There have been a LOT of old Russian guys killed on the battlefield and capture as POWs.

It has been really odd seeing how old a LOT of the cannot fodder has been on both sides.

Ukraine is taking folks by force off the streets or from their homes, stuffing them in a uniform and giving them about 4 - 6 weeks training in “totality” before sending them off to die in a trench essentially.

The average age of their conscript is something like 46 at this point. Many would never pass a medical or physical screening to see if they are truly fit for duty, but who is really looking?

Put them in a hole and tell them to fight and die in place.

Horrible stuff. Stories not told.

Right now close to 1500 Russian soldiers are either dying or being seriously wounded every day. Many of them lack training and are thrown into "meat assaults" to capture a few hundred yards of some farm field.

In 2024 Ukraine has captured more territory in Russia than the Russian army has captured in Ukraine.

As I’ve said since November 2022 - Ukraine won (past tense) the war back when it defeated Russia in the battle for Kyiv.

That was the headshot that Putin went for - and missed.

The Ukrainian people who we still are in contact with still do not want to surrender as they know that Putin wants to obliterate them. They were far more amenable to de facto (if not de jure) writing off the Donetsk PEople’s republic and the Luhansk People’s republic and Crimea back in Jan 2022, but after Feb they realized that Putin will come back again and again in salami tactics so no long-term peace with Russia is possible.
