David Frum did stop short of banging his fists or stamping his feet. But on today's CNN This Morning, the Trump-detesting Canadian could not contain his frustration at the prospect that, thanks to the "probably stupid" rules of the Constitution, Trump could win the election with an Electoral College majority despite losing the popular vote count.
Frum was responding to a statement by Edward-Isaac Dovere that some in the Kamala camp believe that if the election were held today, she would lose.
Frum began by claiming: "We need to be more specific about what we mean by 'lose." Depends on what the meaning of is, is, David?
As Frum ranted against the rules of American politics with its Electoral College, host Kasie Hunt interjected: "But that's the rules of the game."
Responded Frum:
"Those are the rules. They were written in 1787, maybe they're wise, maybe they're stupid. Probably they're stupid."

PS: Libs trash Trump for putting the accent on the wrong syllable in “Kamala.” But as you’ll hear at 37 seconds into the video clip, guess who else said Ka-MA-la? Yup, Frum.
Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.
Davy. There is nothing stupid about the Electoral College. You’ve got to have the intelligence to understand how it works and why it works that way.
Cancel his @$$!
I don’t think Kamala or Trump will do well in the Electrical College. Neither has a background in electronics as far as I know.
Another useless Bushie
LOL!
Well, Jimmy Carter was a nuclear sub engineer: and look how that turned out! :-)
Decades ago, in the book “Dead Right”, Frum had predicted that populism would fade, and that the future of the Republican Party was in responsible fiscal policy combined with a libertarian position on social issues.
He was DEAD WRONG, and now reveals that he NEVER was engaged in honest political analysis, but in fantasy peddling.
Nope, they’re very good. The Electoral College guarantees that smaller states won’t be ignored at election time.
Frum does not believe in the Electoral College, nor will he be sending his kids there for their degrees.
If it weren’t for the Constitution and the Electoral College, the communists would have taken complete control of the USA long ago. Our Founding Fathers were wise.
Does anyone ever think about how much statewide positions were decided by a “state level electoral college” system and how different the US Senate would be?
That being said, the 17th Amendment repeal should be an agenda item in Pres Trump’s next term
Democrats would never have control of the Senate.
Because even “a chance” of the other side winning, cannot be tolerated.
<>The Electoral College guarantees that smaller states won’t be ignored at election time.<>
The Framers couldn’t have cared less.
Read Federalist 68.
The is no United States without the Electoral College.
It’d be a different country.
The amorphous lump of America.
The democrats that want to abolish the electoral college for the popular vote should lead by example and change their Presidential Primary to popular vote.
They won’t do it because they actually have the power to do it in a Democrat Primary, but would need to change the Constitution for the General Election.
People still do not like Harris. She is not likeable. You can’t make a terrible candidate good. You can’t give someone skills they don’t already have. Her appearance is very annoying.
Kamala knows more about hyenafication than electrification.
Back in 2016, there were polls showing Trump between conventions leading Hillary Clinton nationally. However, the talking point line was “Well, he may have a chance of winning the popular vote, but his real problem is in the Electoral College” as though Hillary would inevitably win that, and that’s what counts. Then the opposite occurs and the script flips.
In fact, they did the exact same thing in 2000. The Electoral College was wonderful when it appeared Bush was going to win the popular vote according to the polls but possibly lose because of the Electoral College. It was a brilliant system per Gore’s people since that was looking like the scenario for his victory with Bush consistently ahead in national polls but they were even in multiple state battleground polls. Then it was terrible when the opposite occurred.
There is *no* actual “national popular vote” - this is essentially a meaningless statistic compiling the results of completely separate elections created by statute of the individual state legislatures. Of course, I recall the thread some years ago where I was blasted as “insane” for suggesting the U.S. Constitution does not create a popular vote for President and this is an entirely a creature of statute of your respect state legislature. But that is reality. When you vote for President, you are voting in a state election created by your state legislature. The only voting for President the Constitution outlines is the Electoral College and its Electors. Period.
