Great intro. Right up there with the Theme From Shaft. Then there’s Lou Reed’s Sweet Jane and Mellankamp’s I need a Lover.
Blak America had a problem with it because it described too much of the black experience. Then there’s the really sad one of Hickory Holler’s Tramp-O.C. Smith.
To: DIRTYSECRET
That’s The Funk Brothers for you.

Then came Stevie Wonder’s “Livin’ For The City”.

Great song and a reminder of how good black music was back in the day. Nowadays it sucks.

lbjโs boney claw from the grave lives on. And, โtheyโreโ still voting dem as he stated. Speaking of LBJ, and I see your tagline:
This song is dedicated to LBJ.

They have
Itโs much worse
Even in North America slavery days
Black families were mid 70s percentile two parent
Per Jesse Peterson
Today black lower income areas are all bad
The urban ones much worse
Itโs a global issue with the same denominators

I love the long version intro. Long and soulful instrumental play. Like Isaac Hayes Shaft.

I love the long version intro. Long and soulful instrumental play. Like Isaac Hayes Shaft. Saw Isaac Hayes in concert in 1972 at college.

Saw Isaac Hayes in concert in 1972 at college. Whoops. Just remembered who I took, so it would have been 1973.

*Black America had a problem with it because it described too much of the black experience.*
*Great song and a reminder of how good black music was back in the day. Nowadays it sucks.*
This was the 70’s a more decent time in race relations that transcended music after the turmoil of the 60’s.
The ‘black’ deep state went back to work to keep them in line. Many in that deep state were white.
Spinner’s 1970 “It’s a Shame” is my favorite guitar intro of all time, so cheerful and uplifting, and it reappears throughout.
I recently read the saxophone solo before “What’s Going On” was spontaneous but I think it the most tremendous horn intro of all time.

Awesome arrangement in a pretty simple base. 3 chords but they do so much with them.

....always thought it could have been โ...all he left us was a loan....โ...but โaloneโ is a better lyric... I always misheard or misunderstood lyrics and such. Thought Hendrix was a homo singing "Scuse me while I kiss this guy".
Wondered why this guy was always doing good on his horse...

while never seen at a desk arranging loans.
