There are plenty of good web browsers to use, and Firefox and its Waterfox spinoff, most of the time, are good. But I noticed something the other day about both of them. I was trying to log onto this Conservative shopping site called “Patriot Depot”, and when I would put the web address in, it would automatically re-direct to Google. This was true for both of them. I tried this with my other browsers, and the site came on just fine with them.
Perhaps some lefty programmer at Firefox put a re-direct as a practical joke. If true, given that it lowers my opinion of his company’s browser, the joke is on him.
This is click bait. Stir up drama to get people to click on patriot depot.
1) Online, lookup How to clear caches, cookies, site data for Internet browsers
2) Online, lookup How to flush DNS cache for your types of computing device Operating Systems
3) Online, lookup How to view and edit the “hosts” file. See if there is an entry in your hosts file that can redirect the site in question
I’m using Brave with Startpage as my default search engine.
All worked fine finding it.
Unfortunately alternative search engines just use google results. Search for anything across them and then search google and it is just a copy paste. Heck. I still use dog pile with fine results. But keep it all zipped up with Tor browser a VPN and non commercial ad blocker. Although I use Brave browser for YouTube and hdtoday movies as it is a very effective ad blocker and stops mid video ads without tripping the “ad blocker detected” nanny on YouTube. And I would never advocate taking money away from Hollywood watching movies on hdtoday. Hdtoday is terrible as just about every movie ever streamed winds up there. Even the old 70s and 80s campy horror movies I like wind up there. It is terrible I tell you.
I ask questions on the net now and get information that is the opposite of what I asked for.
Big tech is like the Mafia everyone gets a whack at the cash.
“Just checked something else.
What a helluva lot of extraneous scripts run on Patriot Depot.”
BRAVO! Good catch! More need to check the Scripts and judge sites by the scripts! Those 15 hidden API Scripts are not all just the mythical “they have to make a buck too” Scripts. Many are 3rd party trackers and fingerprinters that forward to 4th and 5th parties! Why do Conservatives do that? Money over principles?
I’m starting to see a lot of this... The compromising of principles for a buck.
https://patriotdepot.com/ works for me. I’m using waterfox.
I also just tried it with the following web address; https://patriotdepot.com/ and it went directly to the site. I also types in patriotdepot.com into the web address bar on firefox and it went directly to the site- not google. And search also: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=patriotdepot.com
136 network requests (open page, then in Firefox hit F12 key and then Network then F5 then see Requests on bottom left). Gateway Pundit and many others show similar amounts. FR? 3.
“FR? 3.”
Yep. The basics only from what I can see. :)
But the worst part is where those APIs on that page forward to... I don’t even continue once I see Google Analytics. I was elated when the FR removed it. It collects everything and sends it all to Alphabet in real time. But that is just one...
