Here's Why The US Is Playing Dumb About Ukraine's Plans To Invade Kursk
Andrew Korybko Substack ^ | 08/17/2024

Posted on 08/17/2024 8:40:04 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed that the US didn’t know about Ukraine’s plans to invade Russia’s Kursk Region, but that’s unbelievable since there’s no way that its intelligence services didn’t even catch a hint of it, not to mention likely participate in the preparations.

Putin even reaffirmed during a meeting on Monday with high-ranking government officials about this crisis that Ukraine is the West’s proxy for waging war on Russia. Here are the five reasons why the US is still playing dumb:

1. Maintain Plausible Deniability For Escalation Control

Admitting complicity in Ukraine’s invasion of Russia’s universally recognized territory would make the US a direct participant in these unprecedented hostilities and thus place enormous pressure upon Moscow to respond against it and/or other NATO countries like Poland. The US doesn’t want that to happen, ergo why it also forced Ukraine to call off its reportedly planned assassination of Putin last month as explained here, so dishonestly denying knowledge of its proxy’s plans is par for the course and not unexpected.

2. Avoid Embarrassment & Responsibility Once Ukraine Fails

It’s unlikely that Ukraine will be able to indefinitely hold the territory that it captured inside of Russia so it’s a question of when and not if it fails. Accordingly, the US wants to avoid the embarrassment associated with that once it happens and also reduce the chances that Russia feels pressured to respond against it and/or other NATO countries as written above. The US is basically letting Ukraine hold the bag after everything inevitably fails apart so that Russia’s full fury is directly solely against its proxy.

3. Propagate David-vs.-Goliath Optics For Boosting Morale

By pretending to be caught off guard by what just happened, the US is lending false credence to the optics that the latest phase of the already decade-long Ukrainian Conflict that began almost two and a half years ago is a modern-day David vs. Goliath story. This is meant to boost morale inside of Ukraine amidst its drastic slump caused by the ramping up of forcible conscription there and increase support among the Western public for continuing to fund this proxy war in the face of growing fatigue.

4. Keep Up The Charade Of A “Gentlemen’s Agreement” Gone Bad

RT’s Sergey Poletaev introduced an intriguing theory into the global information ecosystem earlier this week when he wrote that “The relative calm along the 1,000-kilometer border for two and a half years likely wasn’t coincidental. We can suggest there were agreements between Moscow and Washington, specifically with the administration of US President Joe Biden.” If there’s any truth to that, then lying about not being aware of Kiev’s plans could be an attempt by the US to try to hoodwink Putin yet again.

5. Troll Russia After It Previously Denied Supporting Donbass

Russia always denied militarily supporting Donbass throughout the eight years between “EuroMaidan” and the special operation, but the US insisted that this was a lie and that Russia had “invaded” Ukraine, albeit at a limited scale. Whatever the truth may be, playing dumb about its support for Ukraine’s indisputable invasion of Russia is also an attempt to troll Russia for denying the dubious claim that it “invaded” Donbass before 2022.

There’s no truth to the US’ denial that it knew nothing about Ukraine’s plans to invade Russia, but claiming otherwise advances its escalation control and soft power interests.

Those who play along with this are insulting the intelligence of their targeted audience, some of whom might feel pressured not to call them out though due to fear of being aggressively harassed online and “canceled”.

All objective observers know the truth, especially those in the Global South, which is all that matters for Russia.

From the article: “The US is basically letting Ukraine hold the bag after everything inevitably fails apart so that Russia’s full fury is directly solely against its proxy.”

Words of wisdom: Never trust a Democrat.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Zelensky regime did not officially notify the US in advance of its plans. I have little doubt that US intelligence knew of it in advance.

Andrew Korybko:

"I'm a Moscow-based American political analyst specializing in the global systemic transition to multipolarity."
No bias there. Korybko is operating an intellectual and political chamber enforced by Russian law. Anyone who openly criticizes the "Special Military Operation", calls the invasion the invasion that it is, is subject to arrest, a proper show trial, and imprisonment.

Any Moscow based intellectual who spells out how Kursk is a disaster for the Russian military and Putin's position is risking suicide by upper floor window.

Odd is it not today whom we are fighting in relation to East verses West? In the 50s to mid 70s it was basically The West verses communism in Korea and Vietnam and many minor wars around the world.

The Ukraine war is just simply another European War of which through history have been many. It is not East verses West nor communism verse capitalism. It is just one more European war.

I do not know if we should support the Ukraine or not. When the Soviet Union collapsed we said we would assure their independence. We lied. If the Russia of today knew we would support the Ukraine with everything we had short of nuclear weapons this tragedy of loss of life and destruction would not have happened.

The ironic thing is when the Soviet Union collapsed the Ukraine had nuclear weapons of the Soviet Union. They gave these weapons back to Russia with assurances of the West’s protection from the new Russia. We lied.

If the Ukraine had not given up these nuclear weapons this insane war would not have happened. The Ukraine could not have defeated the new Russia with those nuclear weapons. They could have made losses so extreme to Russia that this war would have never happened. The Ukraine made a fatal mistake, they believed our promises.

This is the reason Russia called the Pentagon in July. The Pentagon lied and said like a Sergeant Schultz, I know nothing... when you arm Nazi’s and associate with them, well you start to act them too.

Russia supposedly only had time to react with special operations forces with a two - three weeks intelligence head’s up.

Going after the NPP in Kursk, when two months of secret negotiations to get Ukraine to stop shelling the NPP Russia captured in 2022 were scuttled when they made the incursion to attempt to grab the Kursk NPP.

Ukraine has a proven nogotiations track record of 1000. The Minsk I and II, the Istanbul and now the Chinese-Indian talks have been broken by Washington and Kiev.

At some future point, the US interests around the world are going to start falling like domino’s and everyone will know Russia planned and executed the operations using the local talent that alrady hates the US, and the US will just have to suck it up.

Maybe one day Russia will walk DC up by launching 400 strategic nukes on the NATO footprint talkikng out all of the EU military assets. Washington will have to suck it up or risk having the US hit too.

These are games democrats play. Never trust a democrat.

Korea and Vietnam were both proxy wars of the west vs communism (Russia). The Ukraine special military operation is no different, only this time Russia is actively involved and we're 'not' doing anything.

The Korean war was certainly a war against Communism, but it was a war fighting both Russia and China. Russia supplied the Mig fighters, but China provided huge numbers of ground troops, many of them quite young. My late husband served in Korea during 3 very hard years of that war. He had been raised by a very Christian mother. When our oldest boy was 14, one day he came home very upset and began talking about that war. He described the terrible fear and horror of facing 300,000 Chinese Communist troops. He told how many seemed quite young. He suddenly burst into tears and cried in agony, “I killed somebody’s son, I killed somebody’s son.” Then he crumpled onto the bed and sobbed and sobbed and sobbed. He had a 2 inch scar on his knee, I asked, but he would never tell me how he got it. I think I know now.

So lest we forget and think this is just another European War, remember China played a big role in the Korean War, still supports nuclear North Korea, and is now threatening Taiwan, Vietnam and all of South East Asia at sea. In 1941, we thought it was just another European War, and then on Dec. 7th were subjected to a huge, ugly surprise by Japan. After a few decades of peace among great powers it is easy to forget the major lessons of history. We should be thankful that Russia and China are refreshing our memories, and creating current news to teach to our younger voters.
