I am not a Swiftie. I can’t name a single song by Taylor Swift besides “Shake it off.” But a recent Newsweek column about her life choices has me infuriated.
John Mac Ghlionn opined that Swift is not a good role model. Why? Because she is 34, unmarried and childless.
…My 25-year-old daughter is set to be married in just a few months and I am so incredibly happy for her. She was lucky enough to meet a wonderful, respectful man with common interests and humor.
But let’s be clear. If she hadn’t, I would still be proud of a young woman working hard and finding her own way in life. I don’t care if she is married or has kids one little bit.
Let’s instead look at a person’s character when judging who is a role model.
Swift’s tour has been breaking records in every city. Her show literally is an economic boon to every city she visits.
But she also has donated to numerous important initiatives over the years, from food banks and libraries to paying off student loans and aiding tornado relief efforts. Just recently she gave around $5 million in bonuses to truck drivers on her tour...

She doesn’t want to marry. Her real relationships have been with women. The men are just fodder for her songs.
Honestly don’t understand all the hate some have for her. Not a huge fan of her music but with two daughters have been exposed to it.
She is someone who achieved major success at a very young age, and avoided ever becoming a side show of drugs or scandal or anything else that many young people fall into when they have that level of success at such a young age.
If I had to deal with listening to Taylor Swift or the manufactured corporate Boy Bands that going girls flocked around before her, I’ll take her every time.

She seems like a typical entertainer with good points and less attractive features; however, as wealthy as she is she could spend a little more on her wardrobe. Swim suits with some bling pasted on seem a little gaudy and cheap.
The writer’s potential future SIL is going to have MIL problems.

Apparently she’s made political statements which lead us to believe she’s a liberal tool politically. Based on comments on Free Republic about her, she’s too liberal for us .
But if we’re going to go down these roads, I guess you could ask ,do we really expect a famous celebrity to be a role model for us?
I don’t really care about Taylor Swift. Don’t listen to her music, don’t care if she’s married or has children, or not; don’t care about whatever she’s done or not done.
I remember that some of the ‘teen idols’ in my youth didn’t exactly represent the paragon of humanity.
It’s not a really big issue on my radar.
Just how is being a Satanist, abortionist, living in sin, LGBTQI promoter a bad role model?
She sure loves that Ka-Ching of her Tatre Tot Kindergarten rock and idiots are happily spending a lot of money on her cds and dumbass concerts. They can afford it now that the ass-bustin’ taxpayers have paid for their Certificates Of College Attendance.
Humans are not made to handle so much public adorations. Some do handle it better than others. I think Dolly Parton has handled hers fairly well but Madonna is off the charts. If Taylor Swift wasn’t a famous star she would be a nice country girl from Tennessee which she seems to retain some of that but also the pride and ego from her wild fame is a corrupting influence on her as well. Elvis and Michael Jackson come to mind as mega Stars destroyed by their fame.

Every man who has the same attributes but lived her lifestyle, women would rip up ahd down.
Taylor Swift has made money off of (and a career from) the men she dated and broke up with. Theres a vindictiveness there, that if a man did the same, women would screech about.
in 2018, because she has a house in Nashville, she decided to get poitical. She vowed to take down Marsha Blackburn in the Senate race that year. Theres a video of her father pleading with her not to get involved with politcs, its a no win for her and to keep it to herself. The bubble head then started babbling about Blackburns voting record and it was obvious she didnt have a clue how Senate votes are taken. Then stated how that abortion rights are “Tennessee values”. At the very end, to show what a “strong and brave” woman she is, she promptly burst into tears. Shes weird. Now that shes into her mid-thirties, dont be surprised to see some crazy meltdown ala Brittany Spears.
btw, Blackburn won by 14 points that year.
I hadn’t heard of her until recently and I don’t believe I’ve heard a single song of hers. But I like that she donates to charities, that she seems to be an excellent businesswoman, and that her relationships seem to last reasonable lengths of time. She keeps things private until she gets artsy in her music compositions, and encourages people to figure out what she’s talking about because she is private enough that she doesn’t seem to come across as exposing herself either mentally or physically.
Her photos look more like ice skating costumes and she seems to value her family, as well as the family of her current inlaws. MUCH better than what you read about for most celebrities.
Hope she keeps making a fortune and brings some of that fortune to the towns on her tours. Good for her!
All you have to do is look at one of her concerts. It’s satanic.
