āHelping Trumpā By Showing Bidenās Disastrous Debate Performance I think there were several moving parts that came together:
- CNN has been struggling to break away from their past image of being a Democrat mouthpiece since firing CEO Chris Licht, including a minor revolt from the network talent. This debate was going to be a showcase for the new and improved "This... is CNN."
- Having CNN host Kasie Hunt kick Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt off the air three days before the debate because she brought up prior quotes of the CNN moderators left a stunning mark on the brand that was trying to rehabilitate itself with the debate.
- CNN, in my opinion, gave away exclusive rights to broadcast the debate (meaning ratings) by allowing ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, Scripps News, Telemundo, Univision, BET, CNN en EspaƱol, HLN, Fox Business, Fox News Channel, MSNBC, Newsmax, NewsNation and PBS to simulcast the debate. It was important to them that the maximum number of viewers got to see the new CNN product.
That last point may have actually been Biden's undoing. By conjoining CNN's need to be seen by the widest audience possible in order to showcase their new commitment to being "fair and balanced" with Biden's need to be seen as better than President Trump, both greatly miscalculated the impacts of their needs and resulting decisions.
CNN succeeded in meeting theirs, Biden failed at meeting his.
The Biden team failed to realize how CNN was going to use the Trump-Biden debate as a marketing tool to maximize total global viewership of the new and improved CNN product. What they got was a maximized total global viewership of the degraded and lied-about Democrat/Biden brand product.
The irony is that if CNN had kept exclusive rights to be the sole broadcaster of the debate, not as many people would have seen it directly and the LAAP-dog media might have been better able to contain the imagery and "cheap fake" the clips that do get shown to keep the illusion of a vibrant and "in-charge" Biden going.

āHe said he would seek retribution. Why wasnāt that the headline? Why wasnāt that the greatest concern from the debate rather than all the focus on Joe Biden?ā he continued. LOL. Poor Allan really is having a meltdown. His argument is that it doesn't matter how poorly Biden does, Trump is just plain evil and that should always be the story.

The split screen on Biden while Trump was talking was devastating. Dead eyes, open mouthed, he looked like he had brain damage and didn’t understand what was going on around him. I said at the time, “I can’t believe CNN keeps showing him like that.” Not that they shouldn’t have shown him, but that I thought they’d do a better job at covering up how feeble he is.

Quoth the editor of The New York Times:
āSo there are people out there in the world who may decide, based on their democratic rights, to elect Donald Trump as president. It is not the job of the news media to prevent that from happening. Itās the job of Biden and the people around Biden to prevent that from happeningā¦ We become an instrument of the Biden campaign? We turn ourselves into Xinhua News Agency or Pravda and put out a stream of stuff thatās very, very favorable to them and only write negative stories about the other side? And that would accomplish ā what?"
