The Pacific appears increasingly nearer to war as Chinese vessels encircled and boarded military resupply boats belonging to a key American ally.
Tensions erupted as the Chinese Coast Guard seized ships of a Philippine Navy resupply mission that was underway near the Second Thomas Shoal. The Armed Forces of the Philippines revealed pictures of the Monday confrontation in a social media post, calling the attack “coercive, aggressive, and barbaric.”

Videos show the resupply mission turning to blows as China became involved. In one clip, Chinese sailors could be seen waving and swinging axes, machetes and other melee weapons as the boats closed in to become a chaotic mass.

All those alliances, treaties, bases, joint exercises sound serious but mean very little if China decides to make things ugly in the Pacific.
Think World War II Japan with modern weaponry....and an LGBT and DEI freak show directing US strategy and tactics instead of brilliant white guys.
Thank you for the detailed reply. I learn more here than I did in school.
I dont know about brilliant, but there certainly are white guys in charge at the theater/fleet level. Its remarkable, these days, that all the Navy senior officers in the Pacific, all the combat officers, are white guys.
I suspect this is no accident.

That is encouraging.
In many large organizations of all kinds the white guys have to do the heavy lifting—often below the radar.
*The Philippine Government very stupidly cancelled military base agreements. The wolf is at the door indeed.*
True. China wouldn’t be pulling this crap if we were there. Stupidly cancelled? I think not. It was money and showing off-resentment. After all the P.I. is the little brother here. They need to pay the price.
What would be interesting is if the weak Philippine navy shot up one of the Chicom ships or retook one of those islands. What would Xi do knowing the US is not too far away? With Biden in charge all bets are off.
Some of today’s headlines look like direct vatriants of headlines from the late 1930’s and early 1940’s.
“China should be watchful that a “Rod from God”, ahem, I mean meteorite, doesn’t have the bad luck to fall on the Three Gorges Dam. Karma is a b*tch.”
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Karma? If Karma is real, it’s headed OUR WAY. America has murdered thru abortion, probably more innocents than did Hitler. America has evicted God from our culture, while we praise sodomite behavior. If you look to history, God often used evil nations to judge Israel. America is under God’s judgement, and worse is coming. ONLY repentance and revival to Christ’s teachings will save our nation.
No arguments from me on ANY of your points raised.
Ok so. the PI attacks a Chicom ship. What would China do? What did they do when BJ ‘mistakenly’ bombed the Chinese embassy in Bosnia?
A mansion in Kenya, his home?
The US IS there. Those old bases are a generation ago, and would be nothing but targets now. The Philippines is not a rear area, its the front line. Thats why US forces plan on being dispersed and use small airstrips. Thats what the current base agreement is about.
“Some of today’s headlines look like direct vatriants of headlines from the late 1930’s and early 1940’s.”
Yes they do. And so does much of the rhetoric coming out of Russia and China.
BJ and Serbia are a generation ago. Everything is different now.
The PI will not deliberately attack a Chicom ship. The plan is to endure, but persist.

possibly the best historical themed movie I've ever seen.
lots of Japanese actors also seen in the recent version of Midway.
totally changed my understanding of why what happened in japan regarding ww2.
if we go to war with china, I'm glad japan is on our side.
Thank you for the recommendation. I will put this on my list now.
Oh, I am sure people like him have all kinds of locations scoped out to abscond to with their ill-gotten grifted gains in case things go awry.
People like him on both sides of the aisle, too. Pelosi, Schumer etc. on their side, and jags like McConnell on “our” side.
They all think they are smarter than everyone, and have it all figured out.
Since these are the people to whom everything is a “surprise” ranging from National Security threats from throwing open the border, shortages of something when they decide to put price controls or government limits on them, to raising taxes and wondering why tax revenues go down, I have no doubt that a “world without America” will produce results that will “surprise” them.
And I hope those surprises include them, because they think those “surprises” will only affect “the little people”.
The US Navy along with the other allies in the region need to assemble an Asiatic Fleet that STAYS in the South China Sea as a thorn in the sides of the Chicoms instead of just exercising international passage operations from time to time. One it’s a trip wire if the Chicoms get squirrely and attack, two it gathers intel and three can respond to events like this attack quicker than a carrier battle group off Japan or Korea.
