Against the backdrop of continuing Russian advances, some Western leaders have started to advocate missile strikes inside Russian territory, from NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg up to chief warmonger, former British Premier Boris Johnson:
Now, some European neighboring countries have started preparing to introduce their troops into Ukraine in case of strategic Russian advances in Eastern Ukraine.
The Baltic states and Poland have warned Germany that they could send troops to Ukraine if the situation gets noticeably worse for Kiev due to its allies being reluctant to supply it with weapons.

I stated at the beginning that this behavior would lead middle level powers to make their own calculations about how to best preserve their national interest, which could easily lead to an escalation those powers consider in their interests regardless of the consequences for the US.
That would be very stupid and would make those countries legitimate targets.

Literally EVERY DECISION in Europe is coming from the US. Europe is now a colony of the US and that only changes if Trump gets elected.
They’re targets anyway if Putin’s intent (as it seems to be!) reestablish the 1914 borders.

Putin hasn’t attacked them.
Yet! He has made statements about having a historic almost mystical mission to restore the borders of Imperial Russia. Read Alexander Dugin!
One can whine about "forever wars" and "not our fight" and fulminate over NATO, but in the real world, military power and success and failure in war have consequences. For those keeping score, Polish patriots fought in the American Revolution and Poland is deeply and genuinely pro-American.
Well-trained and well-equipped, the Polish military would do quite well against Russian troops, assuming that the US and NATO back Poland with logistics and keep Russia from using nukes. Since Putin knows that the Polish military would gleefully wreck his troops in combat, this limits what Russia can hope to accomplish.
Indeed, Poland could do much more to help Ukraine by sending troops to the current battle zones. And that might happen if NATO endorsed such a move.
