Who?
And then came R. E. M. I saw them, mid-‘80s. Great band, but “artsy and fun”?
Who’s on first.
Thank God for some significant continuity...
No where close to Slick soaring.
Great Big Hair though...
Did you see Grace back in the 60s—everyboy had a crush on her...yikes..

She was fine.
Yeah, REM I would put more as Southern Gothic. They were many other party bands around that time. I’m speaking more of the atmosphere in the area at that time. It was just a fun place to be.
Yeah, they’re a party band. Any expectations other than that are misplaced.
They were the first band to feature a trans in a music video, which was, “Love Shack.” Amazing how they got the ball the rolling on trying to get the public to accept them and look what have now.
My Fav.

Saw them in the early 80’s.
Best concert EVER!!!!!!
“Lot of people don’t know the guitar player and the lead singer on the song are brother and sister.”
Also, the same people likely don’t know that the brother and sister were both gay. In fact, I believe the brother died of AIDS.
(Also, the same people likely don’t know that the brother and sister were both gay.)
The sister, Cindy, was married to a guy and had a kid. In the video you can see she’s wearing her wedding ring.
Fair. I saw The Who twice in Summer of ‘80 and yes, I can see the two distinct audiences thing for sure.
Thanks for the links. I attended all three days of the ‘82 US Festival and this is sweeping out some cobwebs in the memory data banks!
Bkmk
Throw in that it was Florida in late November....Jimi’s birthday, Tangerine Bowl, crowd estimate was 80K by some event staff.
