Police have fined a Wyoming Girl Scout $400 for ‘not having permission’ to sell cookies on her grandparent’s driveway.
A code enforcement officer asked Emma McCarroll, 13, and her mom if they had the landowner’s permission to sell from a driveway in the city’s Pine Avenue area.

Back the blue, till it happens to you.
And the lefty commie cop's name is ?
He was just following orders, you know. Where do we find such men?
If the details in this story are correct, this is yet another example of government officials escalating when there is no need to escalate. Earning the hate, as the saying goes.
The officer wasn’t incorrect, because there is no guarantee that the grandparents would have allowed that because not every grandparent is a Walton family memeber.|
However, once the grandparents make it clear that they didn’t mind, the ticket should be torn in two.
Being from the west, I was hoping that this was in Pennsylvania (there is a Wyoming there), but no-—the town is Pinedale and in the Northwestern portion of the state.
Jackson Hole appears to have been Californiacated, hopefully not irreversibly.
My sympathies. I’m from Oregon—I know the drill.
Not the job of a small-town cop. The town proper, county seat and local commercial hub, has under 2000 people and is important for outfitting. If the grandparents have objections, I am sure they can manage that themselves.
The officer should leave the locals alone unless they have serious disputes they can’t settle in a reasonably amicable way according to local custom, run speed traps for tourists, and ticket every car he can find with California tags or Biden bumper stickers.
Code enforcement “officers” normally are not sworn law enforcement.
You’d be right on that. If the grandparents had a problem with it, it is their obligation to lay a complaint.
Third hand news. Daily Fetched got it from UK Daily Mail who got it from The Cowboy State Daily https://cowboystatedaily.com/2024/04/23/wyoming-girl-scout-13-fined-400-for-selling-cookies/
Seems like this borrowing content to republish is becoming a Daily thing
> The officer wasn’t incorrect… <
True. But perhaps the officer should have taken a bit of time to investigate the situation before writing the ticket. Contact the property owner. See what’s going on.
This looks like another situation where an officer automatically assumes a citizen is in the wrong. Such assumptions are not healthy for society.
In a town of under 2000 the code enforcement officer is also the policeman if they have a policeman. If the town is much smaller he may also run the library when the librarian is on vacation.
That @hole tyrant should be horsewhipped monthly for the next ten years.
Good...that’s less bucks for the abortion loving scouts.
This is ridiculous. Those officers and their management need to all be fired.
.....But let's keep letting the pro-palestinian enemies of America do their violence!!
He and his family likely live in this town, no longer trusted or respected. What a jerk.
Taking on the Cookie Cartel isn’t for sissies. This would be a great episode on “Cops.”
I seen it where the code enforcement officer is not a sworn LEO.
A lot could depend on the enabling legislation.
