Remember the WNBA? The women’s basketball league the NBA started to draw more women into watching basketball? In it’s inaugural season, the WNBA finals drew 2.85 million viewers, when the Houston Comets won the first of their four championships.
It’s never reached those heights again, and the Comets folded in 2008. There was a mild uptick to 728,000 viewers last year.
So you’d think the league would welcome an exciting, highly skilled new breakout player.
You’d be wrong.
- “For almost three decades the WNBA has been a laughing stock and disgrace of a professional sports league that only survives due to NBA subsidies.”
- “A possible turning point for this sad existence of a league has arrived in the form of a basketball messiah.”
- “Caitlin Clark, the greatest and most popular female college basketball player of all time, has announced she’ll be joining the WNBA this upcoming season, and some think she can do for the WNBA what Larry, Magic or Jordan did for the NBA.” I think she can make it more popular, but I sincerely doubt she can produce the same boost that trio gave to the NBA’s fortunes. “The WNBA’s players don’t want Caitlin Clark to succeed.”
- “The WNBA is made up primarily of players who’ve been infected with the false ideas of modern feminism, which heavily focuses on issues related to race, sexuality, gender identity and participating in the oppression Olympics.” I would say “Get woke, go broke,” but the WNBA was already broke without NBA subsidies.
...
- “The first problem Clark will face is that she will be a straight player in a primarily LGBT dominated league, which some of you may think is nonsense and won’t have any effect.”

Unfortunately, real women are apparently not welcome in women's basketball.
lol.
Gymnastics, swimming & diving, volleyball, all are ok for women, but I wouldn’t watch them playing basketball, softball, golf & etc.; boring
There’s nothing creepy about watching women’s gymnastics. Get your mind out of the gutter. I watch that and women’s figure skating because I admire their agility and grace in those sports. Why would I want to watch a bunch of butch lesbos play soccer or basketball?
Haven’t watched NBA in years. As my twelvish daughter once said about the NBA, “All it is is dribble dribble dribble shoot. Dribble dribble dribble shoot.”
I definitely don’t need to Google her. She’s on every facet of sports media 18 hpurs a day.
We can agree to disagree. No worries. Have a great night.
I wonder how well she can shoot a normal sized basketball instead of the smaller womens ball. Mark Cuban is a big DEI guy. He should give her a chance in the NBA.
Good insights although Clark is a pretty high percentage shooter. South Carolina is loaded and reloaded.
It’s a three point game Iowa and WVU with 5 minutes to go. Anyone’s game right now.
I sometimes watch the women golfers. Yes they do not hit it as far as the men but they are very precise. I could not compete with them (then again, I am not a good golfer lol). Some are easy on the eyes - Lexi Thompson, Nelly Korda - others not so much.
WV tough on D Iowa forcing shots
Tie game now with four to go…. C’mon Caitlin and Iowa!
yeah the gamecocks are pretty gamey That coach is drawing top talent
Pretty. Attractive.
still forcing. WV D has them in a box
Tied again with two minutes to go. This is actually a very good game.
Iowa crashing the defensive boards but still not hitting shots. WV missing some
Crunch time time now….
BTW I am from Logan WV or as we say West By gawd Virginia.
I am not seeing as many fouls as the refs see.
