San Francisco city officials plan to pull its offices from a downtown building near City Hall due to high rent and a bad real estate market, The San Francisco Standard reported Friday.
The 11-story building in downtown San Francisco was initially leased to city and county officials back in 1999 and has over the years served as office space for many municipal departments like the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, Office of the Treasurer & Tax Collector, the Mayor’s Office of Disability and the Department of the Environment, the outlet reported.

We expected the city to downsize... did not expect government first. Good for them.
“San Francisco city officials plan to pull its offices from a downtown building near City Hall due to high rent and a bad real estate market”
Why do I get the feeling that they’re not being quite truthful here, considering that they are still renting the ‘space’ (leftist term, but actually applies here). Seems to me that leasing makes PERFECT SENSE in a crashing real estate market, and as to the ‘high rent’, that had to be from the last time they rented (probably 10 years ago, or more), as it simply doesn’t make sense now.
> due to high rent and a bad real estate market <
That doesn’t make a lot a sense. If the real estate market is bad, shouldn’t they be able to negotiate a much lower rent?
Hmm… I wonder if out-of-control crime in the downtown area has anything to do with the move.
🤔
Cancer spreads when isolated and its environment is unsuitable. Don’t let it spread.
Reminds me of “The Stand”, by Stephen King.
Perhaps they should move to Marin County (just north across the Golden Gate bridge) and then build a wall so the illegals, homeless, drug addicts and petty criminals can not enter. /s
"Remember us? We used to be the local government."
If the city government of San Francisco isn’t happy with the city, perhaps they should relocate to a Red State where things will be run in a better way.
‘high rent’

I agree, what do they care about high rent, they don’t pay it, the taxpayers do. All they have to do is raise taxes ...again.
But wait, who are they going to tax, the homeless, the drug addicts, the petty criminals? Their policies ran businesses out of the City and when the big businesses leave, the small small businesses that support the big businesses go out of business.
Why are they renting in the first place????................
They can govern using their iPhones. Could bus and taxi drivers be next — driving their vehicles remotely? In SF the autonomous taxis may be an idea who’s time has come for reasons we’re now beginning to see.
Now they probably want to use it to house illegals.
Wonder how long it will be for San Francisco to move their police and fire departments out of the city limits because of safety concerns.
So Eric Holder is homeless now?
He has been hiding out in SF since 2020 running the ObamaBots.
