'I Would Be Open to That': Tulsi Gabbard Throws Her Hat In for Trump's VP Pick

The likelihood of former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard becoming Donald Trump's running mate is rising by the day.

In an interview with Jesse Watters over on Fox, Gabbard made no secret of her willingness to serve as Trump's vice presidential nominee if she was asked.

"You're being considered for a VP slot, is that something you are open to?" Watters asked during "Jesse Watters Primetime."

"I would be open to that," she responded. "My mission is to serve our country. I want to be in a position to solve problems."

Gabbard, who is regarded as somewhat of a political maverick, has long been touted as a potential running mate for Trump or as a third-party candidate.

In October 2022, she announced she was leaving the Democratic Party, describing it as an "elitist cabal of warmongers who are driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue and stoking anti-white racism who actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms that are enshrined in our Constitution."

In February, The Hill revealed that Gabbard would headline a fundraiser for Trump later this month at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

They reported at the time:

According to an invitation shared exclusively with The Hill, Gabbard is set to be the keynote speaker at the 917 Society’s annual fundraiser on March 7 for a night in Palm Beach “celebrating the Constitution.”

The event comes after Trump, the current front-runner for the Republican nomination, acknowledged Gabbard is under consideration to be his vice presidential choice among several other contenders.

Dinner for the event costs $1,250, according to the invite.

Trump himself has confirmed that he would be open to choosing Gabbard, telling Laura Ingraham during a Fox News town hall in February that she and Vivek Ramaswamy, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem would all be possible candidates.

“Honestly all of those people are good,” Trump, 77, told Ingraham. “They’re all good, they’re all solid.”

When attendees at the largely pro-Trump Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Maryland in February were surveyed about who they would choose as his VP, Gabbard came in second place.

Although Gabbard's chances of being chosen appear more likely by the day, her choice would still be unconventional. As a former Democrat, she previously endorsed the candidacies of both Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders, and holds left-wing positions on everything from abortion and the environment to drug policy and LGBT rights.

The only woman I would have ever considered was Jean Kirkpatrick.

Being the sophisticated voter that I am, Kirkpatrick was just not pretty enough for my vote.

Trump’s base is already bipartisan. His support goes well beyond that of traditional Republicans. And he’s dominating Biden in the polls. Trump doesn’t need to compromise his principles by picking someone who disagrees with him on significant policy issues. Choosing Tulsi or RFJ jr., doesn’t help Trump’s prospects in any significant way, IMO. And having them waiting in the wings once in office, does not inspire confidence. If he decides to go with either of them, he’ll need to get a food taster.

“With all due respect, where do you come up with that? Tulsi knows her way around? In what respect?”

Because she FLEW TO SYRIA to talk to the people there to find out whether she was being lied to by our government and our media. Not a SINGLE elected person in the US and probably every other Western country bothered to meet with the Syrian government and the people there, she did. She has more balls than any Republican that I know of.

Same with Ukraine, she’s not taking the word of PROVEN LIARS, rather she’s come to her own conclusions. She knew from Day 1 that Ukraine was a Neocon operation, which was something that, maybe, 5 elected Republicans knew, with most taking NEARLY 2 YEARS to figure it out.

So she’s strong on that one issue. That doesn’t mean she knows how to wield power effectively. Trump has been in charge most of his life. He knows how to manage and he knows how to negotiate. He also knows how to build coalitions.

Those are skills Tulsi lacks because having them requires you to be able to relate to the people around you. Tulsi is arrogant, bossy, and doesn’t really seem to like people all that much. That makes for an ineffective manager. You need look no further than Fanni Willis for what happens when someone like that is in charge. They alienate all but the most sycophantic staff members.

I would still vote for Trump, but I would be extremely disappointed if he picked her. But I suspect there are a good many people like yourself, that people don’t want to talk about. Those who support Tulsi for VP argue that she has the ability to connect with some elusive demographic that Trump needs if he has any hope of being elected, but ignore the effect of people like yourself who will stay home if she’s on the ticket.

Sovereigns bat territories back and forth between each other like trading cards.

Had we handed American Samoa over to, say, China after Tulsi’s birth, and had she grown up knowing nothing other than Chinese rule, would she still be a U.S. NBC in your eyes?

He’s lucky we didn’t hand the Arizona territory back over to Mexico.

Re "Goldwater wasn’t an NBC."

Ohio: The 48th State? - article date: March 15, 2018

In 1953, some 150 years and 31 states later, Ohio was getting ready to celebrate the state’s 150th birthday. In preparation for Ohio’s sesquicentennial, some Ohio school teachers headed to Washington, D.C. to obtain copies of documents pertaining to Ohio becoming a state in 1803.

They thought, just as they do now, that this would be a good way to make history more exciting.

Think about it for a second. Would you rather read about Ohio’s admittance into the Union in a musty old textbook or look at the actual documents? But a problem occurred because, the Library of Congress did not have some of the documents.

Namely, the legislation that granted statehood to Ohio. It was quickly realized that Ohio technically hadn’t been legally admitted into the United States in 1803.

Donald:

Consider Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch.

Or Neil deGrasse Tyson, (if he passes conservative muster).

“I don’t believe that at all.”

That’s fine, but the Democrats do, which is why they drove her out of their party.
