Border agents in Maine arrested three Chinese nationals while they were illegally crossing the northern border of the US into Maine near Fort Fairfield early on Wednesday morning.
According to reporting from local outlet Maine Wire, the three unidentified Chinese nationals were crossing the border and got intercepted by authorities with US Customs and Border Protect (CBP).
"After noticing suspicious activity along the border, vigilant Fort Fairfield Border Patrol agents arrested three Chinese nationals attempting to use the cover of darkness to illegally enter the United States. A driver from New York, also a Chinese national who is already in immigration proceedings was also arrested and suspected of attempting to further the illegal entry," a CBP statement read.
A fourth Chinese national, who was operating a vehicle at the time, was also arrested on suspicions of assisting the others cross the border illegally.
It was not immediately known if the nationals were part of what the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has called the Asian Transnational Criminal Organizations.

This has a lot to do with the over 250 illegal marijuana growing operations.

I’m surprised they were arrested. Those coming through Mexico are processed and then assigned a court date sometime in the 2030s.

I cross the border between Vermont and Quebec on a semi frequent basis...as recently as last summer. I have a NEXUS card so it’s typically a breeze. But even before I got the card it was pretty quick and easy. It looks like that might change.

Customs and Border Patrol just about didn’t let me back into the country when I went to Quebec.
They were rummaging through everything I had and were asking me all sorts of questions about why I went to Quebec City.
I told them I could have stayed at home if I wanted to buy drugs.
They didn’t like that too much.
There are some 200+ Chinese run pot farms in Maine evidently
But seriously...if you're a citizen,or have a Green Card,they have to let you in.Of course they can arrest you for certain things but they can't keep you from entering.
Anytime you get sarcastic with CBP personnel you’ll be stopped and “corrected”.
