Director John Carpenter had two films, “Escape From New York” and the less popular “Escape From LA.” Carpenter’s vision of a dystopian future with Manhattan as a prison island, filled with criminals and Los Angeles as a just a weird, dystopian area filled with gangs and sleazebags. Apparently, Carpenter read George Orwell with a splash of Franz Kafka in writing these films which are sadly becoming a reality.
Like John Carpenter foretold, both California and New York are leading the nation in outmigration. BAD crime, high taxes, insane politicians and droves of illegal immigrants are making living in those state very difficult.
Where are people fleeing to? Florida leads followed by Texas, then the Carolinas, and Tennessee. Generally, these states have lower taxes, lower crime, and less intrusive politicians. E.g., no Gavin Newsom (CA), no Kathy Hochul (NY) and no J.B. Pritzker (IL).
Another reason that people are fleeing New York and California is cost of living. To be sure, Bidenomics (an insidious malinvestment plan, aka, donor-nomics) has made matters worse. Home prices (blue line) and rents (red line) has soared and are far higher than the grow in average earnings (green line). Los Angeles is wonderful if you are a celebrity like Steve Spielberg, Tom Hanks and The Office’s Jenna Fischer where you live in a mansion and are protected by the police force. But other parts of Los Angeles are filled with the homeless, illegal immigrants, rampant crime, and is simply unlivable.
On a related note, Georgia is still seeing positive net in-migration. But as the Fani Willis corruption scandals unfolds and their weak-kneed Governor Kemp does nothing, we have yet another film John Carpenter could make “Escape From Atlanta.” Or a computer game like “Call of Booty.”

Life be changing and has since time began. Enjoy your
three score and ten as best you can and prepard for the
here after.
I notice Illinois in the title, but not in the list of movies.
I guess there’s no Escape from Chicago…
Austin and Key West housing prices are shockingly high.
Amen.
“Los Angeles is wonderful if you are a celebrity like Steve Spielberg, Tom Hanks and The Office’s Jenna Fischer where you live in a mansion and are protected by the police force.”
I visited Los Angeles in 1987. There were lots of “Armed Response” signs of private security companies on the lawns.
The rich in the neighborhoods of Port Royal in Naples, Florida, River Oaks in Houston, and Guilford in Baltimore have their own security services. In NYC, I think some blocks also have security forces.
That is why my Governor, Gregory W. Abbott, is sending so many miggies to those locations. The “media” toads are claiming that only a huge influx of babymaking, xeno-invaders, including Caribbeaners, can save Bidenskyyyyyyyy’s train wreck of an economy.
Carolina in My Mind - The Petersens
I’m sure their new democrat voting Illegals will work hard and pay those taxes and not send everything they get to their home countries ,LOL
The three states receiving the most illegal immigrants... hmmm...
PLEASE!!!! DO NOT COME TO FLORIDA!!! Please stay away. Almost $10,000 average home owners insurance per year here in FL. 500% higher than anywhere else in the nation...Warning...stay away!
I get a monthly report that breaks down Housing Permits by Metro region.
LA was only down slightly when compared to 2022.
In fact Riveraide( the valley) was up.
As was further east and south of LA.
San Francisco had the lowest building permits of anywhere in the western USA
Seattle was down the most as a percentage.
In raw numbers.
Meaning the largest number of permits.
Houston and then Dallas/Ft Worth led the nation.
Phoenix was third.
Followed by Atlanta, Austin and NYC/Newark.
Keep in mind that NYC numbers are made up of tall buildings with hundreds of dwellings in one building.
It may also be former office buildings being converted into apartments.
This is happening in many cities.
Even here in Manchester, NH one of the tallest buildings in the city is being partially converted to 130 apartments.
Generally, the demographic trend continues to people moving south.
Texas, Florida, SC, NC, AZ, ID, are all gaining people.
Places like Boise continue to grow as people leave San Francisco and Seattle.
Even though the prices of houses in Boise are off 10-20% from their highs.
Dallas, Houston and Phoenix continue to be the top three in volume.
Yet they are all down some from a couple years ago.
Houston is now in the number one spot in the nation.
Nashville was the largest increase in 2023 over 2022. Nashville pulled back the previous year. Prices adjusted somewhat and then construction took off again.
Almost every metro area of Florida continues to grow.
But by bringing in all the illegals and cheating on the census and voting, they maintain their congressional and electoral college numbers.
Meanwhile, of course, they accuse us of interfering in voting rights and threatening “democracy”.
Like a cell that has been infected by a virus, then explodes sending more virus to other cells to infect them. New York and California are the two most malignant cancers in the US for infecting other states with liberal policies those fleeing there are bringing with them.
Sadly I have seen wonderful states infected by their cancers that were warned about it fifty years ago.
“DON’T CALIFORNICATE COLORADO!”
Well, it and other states have been.
But, bringing their unfortunate voting habits with them. They are bound to destroy the places to which they fled.
Kalifornia just about ruined TX with their invasion some 20 years ago bringing their wacko ideas. They’ve bought up everything they can and increased taxes. A many mile drive to town used to be pleasant with only passing 4 cars but now it is bumper to bumper the entire way. It won’t be long until we have to switch countries.
I’m in Colorado and things are fantastic. Location, location, location.
I live in a city that was once the 12th or 13th largest city in the state. There was no traffic to speak of. Buying a house was cheaper than renting and there were more churches than bars. That has all changed in the last three years. Huge influx of people migrating from liberal hellholes and contractors because of the large amount of construction going on.
I was thinking about this the other day. The constant anti-white racist diatribes will eventually push whites into predominately white areas. White males are avoiding the woke military and legacy members such as myself discourage family members from going into today's military. As people migrate due to social and economic considerations, will the skin color of your neighbors begin to be a deciding factor? It shouldn't but I know people from NYC who did not settle in our area because we have a larger mix of races. They had enough of that in NYC. They opted instead for Florida's Panhandle area. They were the exception, but will that become the norm?
Look what’s in The White House and tell me Californication did That.
We Have been Had already.
Too funny. When you come down from your "Rocky Mountain High"; please share with us your "afforadable housing prices".
