Idaho is moving forward with legislation that would allow the execution of child rapists.
The Idaho Capital Sun reports that the legislation, introduced by Republican lawmakers, will target those who have committed the most serious offenses against children as well as repeat offenders. The bill passed the Idaho House by a 57-11 vote.
The legislation states:
This legislation amends Idaho Codes 18-1508 and 19-2515 to allow a sentence of capital punishment for a person convicted of lewd conduct with a minor, if said minor is under the age of twelve (12) and there are aggravating circumstances. Upon conviction, a jury will make the decision of whether to implement the death penalty. A judge may decide the sentence if a jury is waived by the defendant.
The bill’s co-sponsor, State Rep. Bruce Skaug, said the bill would help protect children against harm.
“There is a deep, dark, dark side in our culture," he said. And it’s our job to protect the children. There are times when things are so wicked that retribution is appropriate."

Applauding evil doesn’t seem very righteous to me.
I’d string up a child predator in my own tree.
I think we should use the death penalty for a lot more crimes than we do.
However, torture and abuse is not part of our criminal justice system.
Cheering torture and abuse is depraved.
If only there was a law like this for high government officials who commit Treason - Oh! wait, never-mind.
Both of your responses are spot on. I was wrong and thank you for pointing that out.
It is thought that, and the heart is the problem, but if we cannot resist the temptation of some thing that entices us to sin, esp. if it is needed or actually useful, like booze, then it should go out. And we should be sensitive to what grieves the Spirit of Christ, though I often do, even if to a degree. Obviously there are things that can be used for good or evil, like the Internet instance, and thus cutting such off is a prayerful decision. Sex addicts should if porn cannot be avoided.
That admonition appears to use hyperbole to convey the seriousness of sin...not to encourage people to pluck out their eyeballs.
In other news...
Ask your mother-in-law if we should also execute abortionists.
Leviticus 20:10 ESV"If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
But what if a person just THINKS about having sex with a child?
Matthew 5:28 niv
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
The bill will not protect the children who have been attacked. It will only punish their assailants, which is good enough for me.
You can’t stop a deeply embedded psychotic compulsion with a few exceptions due to new medicines and possibly brain surgery.
That is certainly hyperbole since unlike something like booze, eyes are a vital organ, and the negative effects of removal would be profound, while to rid oneself of lustful thoughts could also justify removal of the mind itself.
And since it is our sinful nature that leads us to sin, then consistent with the removal principal, suicide could be justified. But spiritually this mortification is exactly what the Spirit of Christ prescribes. (Rm. 6)
