One message from the Bible sums it all up:
“Anyone who won’t work shouldn’t be allowed to eat.”
2 Thessalonians 3:6-18.
Various translations make it clear, if you do NOT want to work, you shall not eat.
Those unable to work are to be treated differently, compassion, fed, cared for.
Sounds harsh? No, the rewards of working for a living are to many to list.
Truth can always be difficult to expect
I tend to interpret that passage as applicable to those St. Paul was addressing, namely Christians in the Churches he was given to establish and nurture. It tends not to serve well as a political axiom or a means to motivate the unchurched.
