DES MOINES, Iowa – With six days to go until Iowa's caucuses kick off the Republican presidential nominating calendar, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis no longer predicts victory and instead vows that "we're going to do well here."
DeSantis, at a Fox News town hall on Tuesday in Iowa's capital and largest city, emphasized that the battle for the GOP nomination "is a long process" and pledged that he's "in it for the long haul."

"We’re going to win Iowa. We’ve got the organization in place," the governor declared in a Fox News Digital interview in Bettendorf, Iowa a week before Christmas.
But on Tuesday, when asked by Fox News' "Special Report" chief political anchor Bret Baier and "The Story" executive editor and anchor Martha MacCallum — the moderators of the town hall — about his finish in a state that many consider make-or-break for him, DeSantis twice answered "we're going to do well."
"I kind of like having lower expectations, to be honest with you," he added. "I've been an underdog my whole life and everything I've ever done."

Asked if his campaign would advance to New Hampshire regardless of his finish in Iowa, DeSantis reiterated "yes, of course."

“Do well.” In other words, going to lose.
This is the beginning of the end of DeSanctus.
Yeah underdog. You were underdog when Trump rescued your bacon and supported you for Governor.
Ron should have been happy to be a two term Governor doing a good job and well in line to run in 2028.
Instead he chose making an ass out of himself.
This dude is a total fraud.
Yeah, because that is so much more fun than being the Governor you were elected to be for Florida for your second term. You will probably make Florida a leaning blue state once again, Ron. You lack total responsibility Ron. Shame that some people can't see who you clearly are. A power hungry politician. So, much so, that you fail to see that it is turning off more & more people, instead of making them support you.
I’m glad DeSantis is in it for the long haul. I feel DeSantis is a superior candidate to the deeply-flawed Trump. Setting aside the many errors he made in his first term, Trumps refusal to participate in the Republican debates gives the middle finger to every Republican voter who would like to see Trump in a traditional forum, side-by-side with the other candidates. DeSantis has been treated very shabbily by Trump and his minions, which is more evidence Trump is not the best candidate. Their use of sophomoric and degrading nicknames is a disgrace and a huge red flag to me. Trump treats Republican’s who dare oppose him as enemies—worse than he treats Democrats. Never forget Trump was a coward during the BLM/Antifa riots of 2020 and he could have used his Presidential powers to stop the riots, but he did nothing. If he does get the Republican nomination, I will hold my nose and vote for him, but I feel Governor DeSantis would be a superior candidate with a better chance of beating Biden, since he carry’s none of the heavy baggage Trump carries.
He's had ample opportunity to show that he is "a superior candidate". What happened?
“This is the beginning of the end of DeSanctus.”
More like the end of the end.
the delusions and tds is strong in this poster
“Instead he chose making an ass out of himself.”
While I’m not totally sure that William F. Buckley Jr. would use colorful language of that type, it does, effectively explain everything.
I thought he was supposed to drop out on the 15th.
How do you supply he’s a superior candidate when nobody will vote for him. He’s a weak loser. 😆
2. Trump has never had a reason to participate in these stupid debates. He’s the front-runner who is basically running as the “incumbent” … and incumbents don’t engage in debates because their nominations are mostly just a formality. That’s why there were no primary debates for the GOP in 2020, and none for the Democrats in 2024.
3. Did I mention that Ron DeSantis is an awful candidate?
DeSantis: “I’m going to win Iowa.”
Media: “Okay. What other states are you going to win?”
DeSantis: “I’m going to win Iowa.”
Also DeSantis: “I’m not going to win Iowa.”
Thanks for sharing rod.
I agree. But when you dare to wander even a little bit off of the plantation, Massah gonna git you!
So, tell everyone here how desanctimous is a superior candidate, when desantis has been shown to
lie without hesitation,
manipulate people, and
shown how corrupt he is with laundering campaign funds and disregard of laws and regulations.
Then tell how we can tell when desanctus is telling the truth or not.
For example, here

Buckley probably used those terms in private. I believe in getting to the point quickly ;)
I like neither Haley or DeSantis.
I watched both town halls. The audience for Haley was much more animated than that for DeSantis. I know there was a big storm in DesMoines and maybe that stifled the crowd a bit.
But if one is judging by the emotion of the audience...Ron is in trouble.
