North Carolinian lawmakers decided to require photo ID upon accessing a porn website online to confirm you are of the legal age of 18+.
Pornhub declared this puts users privacy at risk and is unreasonable to want to have to show photo ID every time you want to watch porn.

Oh yes, I’m sure the NC would keep these pictures safe, confidential and nothing could ever ever get hacked and then used against anybody.

I predict the porn industry will explore and pioneer new ways to securely and privately access stuff on the web, and this tech will find uses elsewhere.

My photo ID looks very very similar to Brad Pitt. I hope they don’t think I just grabbed it off of the internet to circumvent their process which I absolutely believe in.

So if there is the pop-up window asking “are you 18?” Y/N.
Who clicks “NO” even if they’re not 18?
I understand your position, but why bother with the pop-up window except to follow some other stupid regulation?
Which is exactly how we got into this discussion in the first place. Next up is some sort of digital ID, which we both know noting good comes of that.

Well you have to show a photo ID to buy alcohol, enter a bar, buy a car or home, rent an apartment, get a job, and a hundred other things.
Just sayin....

On any sight word ask your age if you click yes you’re basically sending them your IP. Sure if you’re on a VPN if it sends your IP but it might. Somebody with a greater knowledge in mind on this subject would probably be the one to listen to.
